We had the good fortune of connecting with Genesis Stephenson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Genesis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Man starting my own business was a must for me. The entrepreneur mindset is embedded within me. I’ve always had ideas to make money and visions to be successful. It’s a risk to take but it’s well worth it. I don’t regret starting my businesses at all. From photography/videography, barbershop, and music production business I’ll say it’s busy but I love it!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In all the many things that I do, I do it with passion. I love capturing moments with my camera and sharing my vision with clients. I love giving someone a well needed makeover and have them leaving the barbershop with confidence. I love touching people’s souls with my music. I got to where I am today by constantly grinding on the daily and networking. It’s easy but then it’s not easy. The main issue is within yourself. You have to constantly be a self motivator. Sometimes you don’t have the support that you really need. Grind hard! I want to be known as the “ I know a guy” guy. Whatever I put my mind to, I do it. And I do it well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I meet up with friends in the city, I mainly go to uptown or my favorite place deep ellum. I love taking people to hear my fellow band mates at the Freeman’s Cajun Café. I also absolutely love eating good at Al Biernat’s. That Cobb salad is fire! Other than eating, because I love food, I just go with the flow.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shout-out to my business partner SirJoe Mays aka Desiigner Fades. We push each other to go to the next level whenever we feel stagnant.
