We had the good fortune of connecting with Freddie Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Freddie, so given that most of us are stuck at home due to the crisis, we’ve been asking folks about what they’ve enjoyed doing during quarantine. We’d love to hear what your favorite thing to do has been.
What has been your favorite thing to do during quarantine? We believe our favorite thing to do during this quarantine is having the time to explore different avenues. Broadening our use and knowledge with technology. This pandemic has forced us to get more creative with thinking outside the box of connecting with our clientele. How have you kept yourself busy? We’ve currently do free virtual classes a couple times a week. School districts has contacted us and we do family engagement sessions as well.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What is LineRcize? LineRcize is the original “line dance exercise” class. We teach all the latest and greatest line dances and incorporate some fitness flair. This class is a combination of dance, core training, and kickboxing creating a fun, energetic total body workout. With live music from DJSS, LineRcize feels more like a “night out” than a “workout”. Something that sets us apart is the amazing climate and positive energy in the room every class. From Freddie’s corny jokes to jamming to live music from DJSS. It’s an overall fun and inviting atmosphere to be in. One of our main rules is class is, “have fun with this thang.” Just be yourself and enjoy your workout. Something that we’re most proud of is having that ability to bring a smile to others through dance. We’ve been approached and have done many different functions outside of our fitness classes. Hosting and teaching at school functions, weddings, cooperate gatherings, family reunions, church outreaches, and community events just to name a few. The thing we feel that people enjoy the most about our class is that we treat each other as family. We have social outings such as bowling and karaoke, and we also participate in community events together. But most importantly, we pray together. After every class we join hands and close with prayer. There’s no other class like this. Running a small business such as ours has its unforeseen challenges. Our toughest challenge throughout our journey is finding proper locations and venue to run our business. We’ve been in hair salons, gyms, schools, and even in restaurants. Through trial and error, we’ve overcome this challenge simply by building relationships. One thing we’ve learned about running a business is, “It’s not about who you are, it’s about who you know.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas is a city that has everything. If someone was visiting from out of town, we’d definitely go to the Texas Roadhouse to eat and a sporting event. GO COWBOYS!!! If they have kids, our aquariums and zoos are amazing. Can’t forget about Six Flags Over Texas. As Dallas continues to grow, the choices are endless.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First we’d give a shoutout to the man above. We also want to shoutout our loyal LineRcize Family. The ones who have been with us for years. Through thick and thin. They’ve seen us rise and fall and still remain loyal. We laugh together, and we cry together. We love and appreciate all they do for us. We’re motivated because of them.
