We had the good fortune of connecting with Femi Ayinde and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Femi, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to the word “risk”, I simply view it as taking a chance. If you never take risk in life, you will never have the opportunity to know if the impossible is possible. Life will always involve taking risk and sometimes you need to risk it all for a dream only you can see. I truly believe that if God is calling you to do something in life, then the reward of what He is calling you to, will outweigh any risk. Taking risks has played a significant role in my life and will continue to do so. I don’t view the word “risk” as being negative, I view it as a possibility. Taking risks pays great dividends and I’m not just talking financially. When my kids were born, the risk my wife had to take were enormous. She not only had to subject her own body and health, but there are so many things that can go wrong during a pregnancy. However, even knowing all the risk involved she was still willing to take that chance and now I’m watching our rewards grow in the form of three beautiful kids. Watching that process alone, there is no way I could ever shy away from taking risk.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the leader/founder of an organization called “The Purpose ProjeKt”. The Purpose ProjeKt is a faith based non-profit organization whose aim is to help people discover their purpose and walk in it. We aspire for all to know God, know self, to know purpose. We simply just want to be the hands and feet of Jesus, whatever that may look like. Whether that is through acts of service, education opportunities, mentorship/discipleship, or youth advocacy. In addition to being out in the community, we host an evening worship service at 6pm on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Worship service x Community service = balance. When you look at the word project or as we spell it projekt it means an assignment or task that is carefully planned to achieve a particular aim. Our motto is “Walk in Purpose or Live Trying” and in the process of doing that helping redefine what people have viewed the “Projects” as. Our assignment is specific and it’s not about government assistance, but rather God’s assistance. We don’t want to be known as the “hood projects” but rather the “good Projekts”. We spell projeKts with the letter K instead of a C due to the fact in life you may not always be able to see (C) it, but when you can’t see it, you have to know it. The letter K in the ProjeKts stands for know, people perish for the lack of knowledge. When you hear us say “Welcome to the ProjeKts” this is what we are talking about. Starting the Purpose ProjeKt was not easy at all, especially not having what people would call “connections” in the gospel arena. We don’t have a church, company, or certain individuals backing us, but I always tell people I got the true PPP loan which is God’s people, prayer, and purpose. In just a short amount of time, we have been able to accomplish some great things. As I mentioned earlier our motto is “Walk in Purpose or Live Trying” which was inspired by the rapper 50 cents debut album titled “Get rich or die tryin”. I dont know 50 cent personally, don’t know if he is a believer or not. But I thought to myself if he had enough faith to believe that he was going to get rich or die trying and he actually got rich, then how much more faith should I have as a believer. I want to walk in purpose, but I don’t want to die trying instead I want to live trying.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t go a lot places, but I would definitely take them to the Purpose ProjeKt Night of Worship. It takes place every 2nd and 4th Sunday at The Corner Theatre located in Downtown Mesquite, TX. I love sports so depending on the season I would take them to catch a Dallas Cowboys or Mavericks game. Iv’e been going to concerts lately, so if Lecrae, Maverick City, or Tobe Nwigwe were in town we would have to purchase tickets. As far as eating goes, one of my favorite spots is Texas Roadhouse, its something about them rolls and that cinnamon butter.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Wife Daphney Ayinde, my family, and everyone apart of The Purpose ProjeKt.
