We had the good fortune of connecting with Federico Mendez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Federico, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is something people shy away from for the most part due to fear of the unknown of what will happen. Keeping oneself in this thinking pattern only keeps oneself from moving forward.

For the longest time that I can remember, not taking risk kept me from moving forward and reach my potential. Now as an adult and as someone who wants something out of life, taking risk has been the new perspective in my growth as a person and professionally in my career.

I think risk is inevitable in progress. Without risk, everyone would jump on the bandwagon and do it all. However, it is not that way and failure is a consequence of risk at times. Failure is the subliminal message about risk that I believe makes people withhold their growth. No one wants to fail. It is only through failure and risk taking where growth resides.

What should our readers know about your business?
One of the many things that sets Intimacy Counseling & Consulting apart from the rest is our unique approach to most intimate parts of relationships. Intimacy of Self and that with significant others is where our drive to improve communication, conflict, and resolution have a foundation. One of the unique characteristics of intimacy is the Self.

Looking from within, “in to me see”, is where the common denominator resides in the myriad of relationships one gets involved. One must fill their own cup before pouring into that of another. Looking how you have a relationship with yourself can denote how you will have a relationship with someone else. Intimacy Counseling & Consulting has been working to establish intimacy of relationships.

The journey was not an easy one but yet, we have come to a place of humility when addressing relationship issues. Taking a close look at the different generational patterns inherent in our families of origin, and de-constructing them to establish better future outcomes in current and future generations to come.

One of my favorite quotes, “Know Thy Self,” is the foundational perspective we incorporate in our work. When we separate thought from feelings we can differentiate from the emotional reactivities and find calmness to help us look within ourselves how to become better humans.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the best places to visit in Fort Worth, TX is the Botanical Gardens – Japanese Gardens. I find this garden to be a place to ground oneself, a place to center yourself. This is also a great place for families and children to run around in nature and Mother Earth’s fruitfulness.

The Fort Worth Stockyards is an excellent place for shopping for souvenirs, it has a variety of eateries, and has vibrant night life.

I would visit Dos Molina’s Mexican restaurant for some fine Tex-Mex breakfast with the their hand-made flour tortillas. I would then take a small stroll through the Fort Worth Stockyards to walk off some of the yummy food I just had.

From there, I would visit the Botanical Gardens and enjoy the comfort of the afternoon sun with a glass of sweet tea.

The Kimball Art Museum would be the next stop on this sunny and warm day to stimulate the mind. This would be followed by a Jamba Juice drink in the Downtown Square of Fort Worth.

I would want to catch and evening movie at a local AMC, or Rave movie theater. I would follow this movie by going to a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

To end the night, I would “cut a rug” at the infamous Billy Bob’s Texas with fine music and drinks with friends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my family. If it were not for your desire for a better future for your children, I would not have been given the opportunity I have now.

Without your sweat and tears, none of this would be possible. You took a risk of putting yourself through a myriad of situations and uncomfortable feelings to provide a better future for us. Gracias Mama y Papa!

Another great person that has given me wings and space to fly has been my beloved husband. Without you and your endless belief in me, I would not have taken the opportunity to grow. Without your constant hope and aspiration for our lives to be better than before, I would not have the same determination. Love conquers all! I love you!

Thank you to all the many individuals that have provided me room and space to co-exist with you and learn from you how to be a better human. It is not without much gratitude that I share my successes with you and the world. I am only one person and hope to meet yet even more individuals throughout my life’s journey.
