We had the good fortune of connecting with Etorian Hines and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Etorian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
There are multiple reasons to start your own business. To start, there’s nothing like being your own boss. You get to set the standards, the schedule and the vibe but with that also comes the notion that your business depends on your work ethic as well. Thats why I started the podcast and also The Professional Granny LLC, which was a result of my mothers passion and dedication to what she loves to do, Clean.

My mother, Ms. Yolanda, grew up in a generation that was battling a systematic oppression from each and every way, as most did in the 80s and early 90s. Like many in her generation, she had to battle illnesses that were unknown to the community at that time and end up falling victim to her vice.

I saw my mother working hard as a janitorial supervisor at the near by amazon fulfillment center. She has a passion for cleaning. It kept her afloat when she was battling her illnesses because it was all she could do at that time. As passionate as she was, the pay didn’t reflect her skillset. She had prepped for inspections and passed them all with flying colors. She never received the recognition that she deserved. She was told she was going to get a bonus, gift cards and other things that never came to fruition.

After seeing the dedication and work ethic of my mother, I said to myself, why can’t she do this for herself? She was already training people and getting things into place for her current employer, why couldn’t she do the same things for herself? The question kept popping up in my mind. I mean it was months before I asked her to quit.

Shortly afterwards, I started The Professional Granny LLC. Initially my intentions were for my mom to clean residential homes but upon doing market research, I decided it would be better to start on the commercial side of things. After a year of commercial cleaning, we plan to expand the business to include residential cleanings as well and disinfectant services as well.

My mother always talks about helping women who were in her position when she was younger. Now, once we scale up and grow the business, she will have the opportunity to give opportunity to those who are in need.

These are all things I talk about on my podcast. Being the best version of you and helping those around you not only make you feel good about yourself but to know that your are helping others to succeed in their dream and their passions. To see the smile on her face is amazing but the feeling that she gets after a good cleaning is the same feeling I get after I make a meaningful podcast. The emotion of bliss that you feel  when accomplishing your own achievements is a priceless feeling.

#Love was the fuel that ignited the thought to start the businesses of podcasting and cleaning.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Podcasting / Cleaning

I was formally a 5G solutions engineer for a major cell phone provider and I’m a combat veteran. So getting things done within a certain degree of standards is my key to success.

When podcasting, I now go off a flow chart to make sure I hit all the important topics. It’s the same for the cleaning business, we approach each workspace with the objective to analyze, plan and execute. That’s how I got to where I am professionally.

Things aren’t always as easy as that but no matter how hard it is, every problem can be solved with those three steps. Analyze the problem, whether thats content and topics for the podcast or a weird shaped office that someone previously had Covid-19 in, that poses a new set of risk for us. Next, Plan. In the Army, we learned the 5 P’s which are “Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.” This has empowered me to think critically and pass this on to others in regards to what to do and how to attack at challenge. Next its to execute on your plan. You’ll never get to where you’re going if you get stuck in “analysis paralysis’. [S/o Will Smith for that one.]

The biggest key take away from all of this is no matter what, following your passion will over all make you happy. Money isn’t a passion but rather a resource to get material things. Pour into your passion because that will give you money in return.

I want everyone to know that your mental health is important. Your brain is a muscle that needs to be worked and checked on just like every other body part on your body. I saw things in the military that are stuck with me for life and even influence some of my actions today. You can’t be successful in any kind of business if your head isn’t right.

Thats what I push for. I try to impregnate the idea of peace and financial freedom into everyone thats around me. Thats my brand and my story. From a backpack leaving my parents home to land ownership and multiple businesses and my voice being heard world wide. Things aren’t perfect but we must remain thankful for the blessing and keep moving forward.

Analyze. Plan. Execute.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s say we have 5 days. Wednesday – Sunday in Dallas Texas. Now, with me having kids and other obligations, I’d have to consider those things as well. Every day includes physical fitness because thats how I meditate so if it was up to me, we working out at least once a day to help with all the food and drinks.

Wednesday – Rooftop dinner and drinks at the Stadler Hotel in Downtown Dallas. The views and the vibes are amazing.

Thursday – Were hanging with old friends and catching up on good times. Dinner will be at home on this night.

Friday – This is content creation day so this will be a great time to have a guest host.

Saturday – We’d stop by Bar Louie for dinner and then we’d hit one of the local clubs and get our dance on.

Sunday – Texas SMOKE! I’m gonna fire up the bbq pit and display some of my BBQ skills that I’m known for.

My cousin better known as @StonerLD is known around the Dallas nightlife scene, he is normally my “Go-to” person when I need some excitement outside of working and being a family man.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife, Alexandria, has supported me the most though-out all my endeavors. She’s helped me file paperwork, brainstorm and so much more.

My mother played a huge part as well. I asked her to quit her job and she did. The love it takes to step out of your comfort zone for your child, yeah thats huge.

All of my friends who listen to my dreams and continue to tell me, “The world needs to hear you and see you. Keep going!” That’s true motivation.

As far as books, the last few that have really sparked more fire under me are as follows, “Will” by Will Smith, “The Perfect Day to Boss Up” and “Hurricanes” by Rick Ross, “The Power of Broke” by Daymond John, “The Emerald Tablets Of Thoth The Atlantean” by M. Dereal and lastly “The Kybalion” by Three Initiates. All of these have helped me to change my mindset and think and grow bigger.
