We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Sitzman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emma, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand I would have to say is that I strive to keep my work unique and bold but also simplistic and natural. I work to make sure ever client feels special and comfortable in their own skin. I want to make sure they can leave from a shoot knowing they could be themselves. I would also another factor behind my success is that I am constantly pushing my self to create new work, finding new ways to improve my skills and also reaching out new people to create connections.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that I have many skills in photography but also in retouching. When it comes to photography I try to create bold, simplistic and unique work that portrays my style. While retouching I want to make the most natural feel to an image from people to even products.
I am most excited for the future projects I have coming and ideas that I am ready to work on.
Where I am today is not only because of the love I have for photography but also because of the people I have meet to help me find more love in the field. I wouldn’t say getting to where I am was easy, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Some of the challenges that I had to face was that many people out there are doing the same thing I am, but also long as you find your style and figure out the goals you want to make for yourself you can do anything.
Some of the lessons I have learned along the way is that there will be days you don’t want to pick up the camera or don’t have the creative drive anymore. But I have learned that its okay to have a bad day. It just a day and there is always tomorrow to regroup and start fresh and to push forward from the funk that you’re having.
I would want the world to know is that find what you love to do and go for it. Because in the long run I would rather do what I love everyday then something I hate.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend all over! There is just so many different places to visit. I would take them to area that I find fun to photograph and also eat. I have always liked going to the AT&T Discovery District, Funny Library Coffee Shop and any new places to stumble upon! Places to eat Beto & Son and Postinos
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my family, friends and mentors for encouraging me to reach for my goals and pushing me to work through my weakness and strength to make me the best photographer and retoucher I can be.
