We had the good fortune of connecting with Elaina DeLoera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elaina, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Faith, determination and the willingness to put in the work. There were and still are times where I feel completely defeated, being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart! Even on days where business was slow, I still put in the hours. Hours of strategizing, practicing my craft, and constantly learning new tricks of the trade.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got my start working for MAC Cosmetics back in the early 2000’s, that was a monumental time for fashion and makeup artistry! I learned so much from this brand and I got to work with super talented key artists who were innovators of that particular time. I was taught to be bold, creative, and most importantly- yourself! Working for this brand gave me the confidence I so desperately needed to be myself. There isn’t a trend I will not try, I love pushing the limits of creativity.
I grew up in a small town where people love to put you in a box, in this box there are rules on how you’re supposed to look, dress and live your life. For some reason, I never found a place….in any box! AND I prefer it that way.
My brand, Glam 103 Studios, means glamorous-diverse-creativity for ALL. I am GLAM, but I am also a hardcore motorcycle riding adrenaline junkie who loves to defy everything society says a woman is “supposed” to be or look like. The “103” represents the not so glamorous things about me (particularly the size of the motor in my Harley-Davidson).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First stop- Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum for the best pizza in town! One of my favorite things to do in the city is discovering Latin street art. My favorite murals can be found in Dallas! Bishop Arts district and The Fabrication Yard are some of my favorites spots.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My FAMILY! My family is a major part of my success, in their eyes my work is perfection! My parents and my sisters have always supported my dream, no questions asked other than- “What can we do to help?”
My clients are the most loyal clients of all, they have followed me every which way and are always so supportive and trusting.
