We had the good fortune of connecting with Edgar Oropeza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edgar, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
#1 being present in their every day life’s, allowing them to grow as I guide them through this walk of life. While keeping them focused on everyday task to help develop their skills, in areas such as school, home chores, social skills, and most importantly introducing & teaching them about God. Simultaneously allowing them to grow within their own interest as they continue to bloom into their own person.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I tend to not fallow trends within my music writing, allowing myself to feel each project for what it is. Sort of in the moment, feeling & aura. I truly enjoy film soundtracks and so I tend to want to lean more into massive and live sounds within my production process. My story is truly trial and error, lol I continue to make mistakes as much as I feel success within projects but preserving through that self-downing thinking is key. PapaDeBebe (PAPA) is electric, distorted, heavy and fluid! Sharing sounds from my oasis, shaping a journey that the listener can create!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man, Dallas and the DFW area has so much to offer we might need two weeks haha! Definitely catching a baseball game at Global Life park in Arlington. BBQ has to be on the menu, Hard Eight BBQ in The Colony has become a Father’s Day tradition for me, you can’t go wrong with the pit there. Then you have the whole Grandscape outdoor Shopping Mall next to it with loads of entertainment, like the indoor go-kart track, observation wheel, and surfing! Catching a live show in Dallas, at a venue like SouthSide Ballroom, Granada Theater, Trees, Dos Equis Pavilion or Toyota Factory! If it’s warm out we’re hitting a Lake, Pontoon’n around or hitting the many shores around as the Texas sky and sun sets, cheers! 🍻

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, without a doubt, her love and encouragement for me to continue to pursuit music has kept my flame lit. With over 20 years of singing in her church choir, and her wide love for music, it is truly inspiring.
