We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Gillian Givens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Gillian, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The most important principle to me is integrity while running my business. I think integrity is vital to build trust and a solid foundation with my families and patients, and is the key to a successful practice and resource to families in the healthcare community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My profession is a physical therapist, and I have worked in pediatrics specifically for close to 11 years. The road to building my own practice has been a lengthy one, and I am still focusing on growing and expanding my platform. I believe I am unique in the way I approach families/patients, my extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings/patient presentations, and the way I mold real life applications of physical therapy principles and goals for unique family dynamics.

I strongly believe that each patient (and family) is unique, and should be treated with respect and true effort/thinking outside the box to truly meet their needs. We all have different priorities and goals for ourselves and our children, and I am here to help facilitate those within a physical therapy scope. I believe that as a therapist, I am helping to foster and build a generation- my goal for every patient is to be functionally independent, happy, and lead with a kind heart. I learn from my patients and their families every day, and I am grateful for that helping me build my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I really enjoy art/creating art. Some of my best experiences and inspirations since moving to DFW, have been local art fairs and the art museum. I would plan a day exploring Bishop Arts District, and stopping at a great restaurant for brunch. There is a lot to see, hear and explore.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, family and friends are all a huge support systems to me with my business. The honor to be a community partner and board member with the non-profit GiGi’s Playhouse Houston, is a huge blessing to be able to support, and advocate for the greater Down Syndrome Community. I am a more well-rounded clinician and human being thanks to this amazing organization!
