We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ RAJ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
If there’s something you truly love, there’s really no such thing as giving up. I believe that applies to everyone and everything. Not everything works out the first time — but each try teaches you something, and that experience helps you do better the next time. On the other hand, if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing anymore, that’s when it’s okay to step back. You should never force yourself into something that doesn’t make you happy. So for me, the key is simple — if the passion is still there, you keep going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
“I love connecting with people through music, no matter where they’re from. I was born in Nepal, did high school in India, returned to Nepal for my bachelor’s, and then came to the US for my bachelor’s and master’s. Living in different countries has given me a unique perspective and helps me connect with people from all walks of life.

Speaking multiple languages helps me understand different songs and their vibes — which is especially useful since most of the events I DJ are South Asian weddings, including Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Starting out wasn’t always easy, but each challenge taught me how to read a crowd and create unforgettable experiences.

I’m proud of the community I’ve built and the moments I create, and my goal is simple: to bring people together and make every event memorable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d plan a mix of experiences depending on what they enjoy. On weekdays, we’d go hiking or explore trails to enjoy some fresh air. On weekends, if they love Bollywood music, I’d take them to one of my parties so they can dance, drink, and soak up the energy of the crowd. If they love seafood, we’d go to Boiling Crab; for biryani, Deccan Grill is a must; and for idly and dosa, South Irving has at least 20 great restaurants to choose from. For me, it’s all about sharing Dallas, its flavors, vibes, and making every moment unforgettable.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my wife for her constant support and encouragement. I also want to thank Empire DJs for giving me my first big break and helping me kickstart my career
