We had the good fortune of connecting with Dennice Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dennice, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Our industry is heavily intertwined with the professional sports world. Hyphen is a pro sports and entertainment concierge service that helps assist these individuals when they find themselves in need of moving assistance. Outsiders are probably unaware of the logistical mayhem that goes on behind closed doors for some of their favorite players. When there is a trade in the NBA, Hyphen steps in to take care of their real estate, moving and car shipping needs. Often times these types of relocations involve more than a dozen people. Our team makes sure that these moves happen efficiently while going unnoticed by outsiders.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Hyphen we are constantly striving to be trendsetters and set standards that disrupt the relocation business. We’re proud to say that we have an app that is going to streamline all things logistics. I have been working on this app relentlessly for four years and it has not been an easy process. I failed twice with different developers and I struggled to articulate my vision clearly. With each failure came a series of lessons that helped me build a callus for obstacles and hurdles to come. I learned that there’s many ways to skin a cat and if you fail once it doesn’t mean that’s the deciding factor of your success to come. All of my failures have made me wiser and resilient. Hyphen is comprised of a team of individuals who not only care deeply about the brand, but also love to go above and beyond for our clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had to take my bestfriend out on the city we would definitely brunch at Mash’D in Frisco. Their food is really good and you don’t have to worry about a long wait. For lunch we would probably head over to Trinity Groves for some chips, queso, and margaritas at Beto & Son’s. This restaurant has added a few cool twists to your traditional Tex-Mex meals. Lastly, I would suggest stopping by Felix Culpa’s in Dallas for a fancy cocktail and a tapas style dinner. They have a really good atmosphere, drinks, music and desserts.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was at a critical crossroad in my life both personally and professionally when I was introduced to Terron Armstead. I was personally struggling with my self confidence and feeling like I wasn’t completely on track professionally. I was questioning very seriously whether my career path was heading in the right direction when he came along. Terron was introduced as a potential client but quickly made an everlasting impact in my life. Within months of our initial encounter, not only had he become a client and major advocate for Hyphen, but he also introduced me to a serial entrepreneur who mentored me. Terron has referred countless clients to my company and continues to be a source of positivity for me and my staff.
