We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Cornett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, what matters most to you?
Kindness and Giving. I truly believe if you lead with kindness and a giving heart there is no room for negativity in your environment.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I honestly feel what sets me and my gym apart from others is not only that we are an All Women’s gym, but that we have created an environment of kindness, compassion, support and motivation where the most fit woman with a ton of friends to the new to working out woman who may have just moved here, has a place to feel special. It is my desire to know every members name that joins my gym. And I hope that they would always feel that I, along with my staff were always kind, welcoming and have a smile on our face. I love my community and find ways to support local charities when we can as much as possible. We give regularly to Ally’s Wish, Mission Moms, Sadie’s Sleigh, and Communities in Schools. ‘Always lead with a giving heart and your heart will always be full.’ If I can be an example of giving and invite my members to give when they can, then I hope they will think about giving more during the times I am not asking because they understand the value in it. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for what this gym has become. We are a small yet mighty group of Boss Babes who show up, work out, give some love and motivation. Then leave stronger and more fulfilled than when we came in. I have learned that if you can create a daily environment of positivity. Negativity doesn’t have a chance to exist.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well my best friends live right here in my community. And we always try to support the businesses around here first. If it happens to be a sunny day and we can find a patio, live music and a cocktail that is where you will find us first. Ofcourse after our workouts at Shapes. I love the fresh Mexican food and my own special drink at MiDia from Scratch, Thursdays are for live music by my favorite local musician, Chaz and Quinton on the patio of Piranha Killer Sushi, Friday we would either head to Rustico or 1845 Taste Texas for some of the best cocktails in town and amazing selection of food in a super sexy atmosphere. The courtyard at 1845 has brought us many late nights of being a make believe Rockstar singing with the band. Saturday at Marty B’s! Best Texas vibe town. It is an event every day! Private cabanas and suites (both of which I have reserved for my staff parties) a huge courtyard and always a fun live band. Every one of these places I can walk into any day of the week and see friends. Its what I love most about Flower Mound. We love to go try new restaurants in Dallas or out of our town. But home is home. And I so love my community and the people that make it what it is. No denying my favorite place to be with family and friends is my home on the lake. The bar is always open and the dance floor is ready.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, especially my husband is 100% why I am where I am at in this stage of my life. We will have our 30 year anniversary this year. And in the last 30 years he has always supported any dream I have had no matter what he may have really thought about it. I went through many MLM opportunities that fell flat. He never said “I told you so”. I started a jewelry business at my kitchen table that lasted close to 15 years. He never (or not often) complained about my inability to budget or inventory. He took care of our kids many nights and weekends when I was off selling at shows. And the day I decided I was done. He was okay with my donating thousands of dollars of beads to any future entrepreneur that wanted to start their own business. The day I said I wanted to be a Boot Camp Instructor he thought it was perfect for me. The day I called to tell him I wanted to acquire a gym close to closing. He immediately held a meeting and we started the process of what is now my dream job! Just because he knew it would make me happy, In his own words when I worry if I am doing enough are “We acquired this gym so you can make the ladies happy. So you go make the ladies happy and I will worry about the rest.”
