We had the good fortune of connecting with Cafe con Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cafe con Flores, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
We have always loved cooking and baking! It was a family tradition cooking and baking as a family, celebrate each birthday, Christmas, and special events with delicious and homemade cakes and desserts. My mom had started her baking business in our home country, Venezuela. However, after she came to visit me for few months, the Pandemic hit and she couldn’t return home.

During this time, we dedicated ourselves to bake and cook our family recipes. One day, we decided to give a blackberry jam to a friend as a gift. It turned out they loved the jam so much that Cafe con Flores idea was born that day. We started our family business selling homemade, no additives, low sugar fruit jams. Then, we incorporated cakes, macarons, and other desserts. We decided to bring homemade and family flavors to our DFW community. Sweets that can transport you to your childhood memories, time with your friends , family or simply flavors that will be unforgettable to your palate!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We feel our deserts and jams evoke you to traditional flavors. They are decorated beautifully and simple, very rich in flavor and made from scratch with no additives. It hasn’t been an easy path, we started selling on Farmers Markets. It took some time for people to trust us and try our products. We also had some struggles in running our own business. Being able to perform every role was definitely a challenge.
However, we have never stopped working toward our goals and dreams. Seeing our growth and customers feedback every time they eat our products is our fuel to keep going! Some of our cakes, for example , our Carrot Cake, has become our customers favorite deserts ever! We also started offering customized cakes for special events like weddings and birthdays. It has been a learning process but we are loving every single step of it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my friend to different places depending the area. We could start with Downtown Dallas, museums, parks following with Fort Worth and all its amazing places like Sundance square and the Stockyards. I would also take my friend the different little towns in the DFW area like Southlake, Las Colinas, Frisco, and Grapevine.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to thank our DFW community that have supported us by letting us to serve them our delicious treats. Huge thanks to our family and friends that have been our biggest fans since day one. We also want to thank other small businesses who we have collaborated with. We love collaborating with them!
