We had the good fortune of connecting with Daisy Santizo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daisy, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
The quote “If it were easy, everyone would do it” followed by the affirmation “I can do hard things.”
It’s a daily reminder in and out of the gym. I find myself repeating these words as constantly as I say them to my clients in the gym.
When life gets hard and obstacles come my way, “I can do hard things.”
When clients are ready to give up on their last set, “You can do hard things.”
And we do them and progress forward!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tell us more about your business: Where do I even begin??
My story and business begins with my own personal fitness journey.
I had signed up for the gym by my house and I was that girl who would run to the gym, jump on the treadmill for an hour, and then run home. I stayed as far away from the weight room as possible and ate whatever I wanted. Sometimes I’d go on a “diet”, lose 10lbs, then celebrate too hard and gain back 15lbs. It went on like this for a couple months until a friend introduced me to the weight room. He told me I’d see more progress if I stuck to the weights instead of running. That day changed me. I started looking forward to going to the gym and learning new movements and trying new machines. I continued this journey for a couple years, and I could see my body changing but I still wasn’t where I wanted to be. I joined a fitness challenge and it heavily revolved around diet and nutrition. It opened my eyes to the missing piece of my puzzle. I was finally making the progress I had wanted all along, and it wasn’t that hard to do! I was 6 years into my journey, and in that 1 year of focusing on my nutrition and workout routine, it all came together.
That story is what my business is founded on. I personally spent 8 years trying what I thought was everything to get the body of my dreams, my confidence, my health up. And all it took was patience, education, and some help.
What sets you apart?
My mission is to help someone save years of frustration, years of trying everything, years of injury, years of misguidance, years of trying to fit into a box. Each one of us has a human body, and each body is so different and should be treated as such. There is no one size fits all, and I strive to bring that awareness. I want women to feel comfortable in their body, and for them to love what they do- nutrition wise and workout wise.
I empower people to find their inner and physical strength, while enjoying the process.
What are you most excited about?
Everything! I literally moved to Dallas 3 weeks ago and so much has already shifted. I have big plans for my business and myself and its crazy how much has changed in only 3 weeks. I’m surrounding myself with like-minded people who share my vision, purpose, and values. And the shifts in my life have been crazy. I’m excited to see how much more can be done with the right guidance and circle.
How did I get to where I am today? Was it easy? How did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
To be honest, it’s always been about helping people. I want to be the coach I needed when I was on my journey. I want to give someone the ability and capability to take their health into their own hands.
With that goal in mind, day in and day out, paired with hard work and a vision, getting to where I am today was an added bonus.
Doing the boring work, staying up late, learning to rest, being away from family, missing holidays, all these things were challenges. Financial issues, investments into further education, strained relationships, stress, tears, all these also came with the territory.
The biggest lesson from all of that was, to just keep going. If my mission was to help others and do good in the world, then the struggles would be worth it. Sleeping in my car would be worth it, having family mad at you would be worth it, having no money but still having shelter and food, would all be worth it.
And so far, it’s all been worth it.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want the world to know that you can do hard things. No matter the dream, no matter the vision… anything is possible. It sounds clique and like “okay Daisy, everyone says that” but in all reality, why not you? If I was able to leave my hometown of Richmond CA, and somehow make my way to Dallas simply by learning, applying, and helping others along the way, you can do it too. I believe in you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I haven’t been here in Dallas long enough! However, check out Self Made Training Facility Dallas for sure!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I would not be where I am without God and my family! However, without Marc Rodriguez, Michell Lynn, and all of my clients, I would definitely not be in the space that I am today!
