We had the good fortune of connecting with CJ Vaughn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CJ, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
Our grow systems will be on the Mars Missions and anything that has to do with space… We got into this industry to be leaders in agriculture innovation… The systems we are teaching and innovating are disrupting the old paradigm of agriculture with the aim of a sustainable future in growing produce.

What should our readers know about your business?
No one had ever attempted to launch a produce business from the inside of an enclosed trailer, so I wanted to do just that… We went where no one had gone before and in doing so, we shared everything we learned with our community and following. We have helped thousands of people start their own businesses, completely for free… In doing so, we gained a massive following in our niche which provides us the opportunity to act on the 11 patent pending products that we have created over the years. The main thing that we have learned from all of this… You have to take action if you want the results. I’ve brainstormed great products and ideas, but unless I act on them, they will account for nothing. Action is what brings the ideas into the world. Our brand is in its infancy and I believe that On The Grow will become a name that every household will know in the coming years. We have brought joy and success to many and we will continue to work with our values and passion to innovate and share with the world all the success we find.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love pho, bubble tea and anywhere that has great chicken-wings and beer. We have a knack for doing things that are a bit extreme to some, so expect some time flying in a paramotor, perhaps some scuba diving or mountain biking! We also are big home-bodies and love cooking on our smoker, so some great steaks are on the menu for sure 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the support of my partner Mandi, I would be nowhere near where we are with our business today. She has helped me to build my systems, create a brand and successfully run it. My mother Suzy Batiz, CEO & Founder of Poo~Pourri was also very generous in helping to provide me the funds to kickstart my brand and company. I learned a lot over the 8 years that I worked at her company where I eventually exited as the Chief Innovation Officer. I started at the bottom of her company and worked my way to the top naturally and I learned so much through my experiences there.
