We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Strom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, how do you think about risk?
I’ve always been a big believer in taking risks… T.S Elliot said “Only those who will risk going too far, can possibly find out how far one can go”. You have to step outside of your comfort zone if you ever want to achieve success. Fear of the unknown will try to hold you back from securing your goals and aspirations but.. you have to ask yourself in every challenging situation: “What’s the worst that could happen?”. Failure is nothing but a step on a ladder. Always fail forward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One thing I’ve learned about life in my 33 years is that… No one can live life for you. You have to live your life on your terms and try not to care so much about how other people think you should live it. Once you master that challenge, it is a feeling of true freedom. The past 5 years for me have been the most successful of my entire life. The reason being is…. mindset. I shifted my perspective and really challenged myself to start taking more risks. I’ve started trusting God more with my life and have put affirmations in place with goals to achieve. Effectively creating a mindset of positivity. All life is essentially energy. You attract the energy you emit. If you are constantly negative or having negative thoughts you will, in turn, receive negative results. It is a universal law, attraction. Since learning this and putting it to the test, my thoughts, words and actions are always positive. I encourage every human being to test their perspective with this idea.

7 years ago I went to college. 5 years ago I received my associates degree in Electrical Technology with an additional trade of Architectural Design and CAD. I wanted to be an electrical engineer. Instead, I chose the path of the electrician. I worked in the field running small projects at first and my foreman quickly realized I was capable of more. I moved companies to run larger scale projects. After doing this for 8 months I was promoted to an executive position in the office. My boss promoted me from that position within 6 months to take over the small projects division of estimating. (250k – 2M). 1 year later, I was promoted to run the large projects division of estimating. (2M – 40M). Today I am working as a Sr. Estimator for a large electrical company putting my degree and experience to work. All of that happened in 3 years time. Nothing is impossible when you are positive, determined and have a clear vision of the success you want to achieve for yourself and your family.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am in love with downtown Mckinney, Texas. The old vibe and older architecture really brings happiness to the atmosphere. The people are nice and respectful. But there’s alot of fun to enjoy as well. Downtown Ft. Worth is fun when your a little younger. The crowd that is out there now are youngsters living life and being 20 somethings. I’m old. Lol. Give me a comedy club or a concert and I’m happy. But honestly most days & nights its Prime with my lady on the couch and a nice dinner.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give thanks and recognition to my amazing family. I have always had the strongest support system anybody could ever hope to have. They have never stopped believing in me since I was a child. My courage, determination and spirit come from life experiences but my love, my strength, my will and my character come from the teachings and support of my family. I could write a novel with every page dedicated to their sacrifices and support but I’ll just say that, their love and belief in me are the reasons I am where I am today.
