We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Zuniga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I refer to them as the Zuniga 3 pillars… Passion, determination, and drive were the compelling factors into my development. No matter what task was on hand, the 3 pillars were the strong foundation for it all. My 3 pillars were my driving force while attending one of the best culinary schools, Le Cordon Bleu, to help me finish strongly. Working in the restaurant industry, I believe, is the most challenging but rewarding industry. Nevertheless, no matter what career you have, always give it 110% and you will reap the reward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Carmen’s Tex Mex is a Fresh Tex-Mex concept in Kennedale, Texas focusing on fresh, made from scratch items, made with love. With many years in the restaurant industry I was able to build an impressive repertoire by achieving high ranking positions in many restaurants throughout my career. Applying attention to detail and true passion, will most definitely keep you busy and will maintain a competitive urgency.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My place of course, lol. And I would highly recommend a charming spot in waxahachie, Texas called Taco Suave. My absolute favorite place to enjoy some really fresh food and great service to pair with, is Mi Cocina.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Biggest shoutout goes to my mother, Carmen, who has supported me mentally, emotionally and instilled in the me the true meaning of hard work equals success. I could not of taken the leap if it wasn’t for my beautiful wife, Kristi, and my son, Christian Brody.
Combined with the continuous support from my In Laws, Stephanie and David, my siblings Giankarlo and Celina, I would say I am truly blessed to have a group of strong individuals backing me.
