We had the good fortune of connecting with Cheyenne Dorsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cheyenne, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I actually wanted to go into fashion, but I was put in the wrong class my sophomore year. That class turned out to be culinary and I fell in love with it. I’ve always been into art and food. So it’s very ironic how culinary fell into my lap basically.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting my business wasn’t easy for me, because I wasn’t consistent as I should’ve been. I also, let myself get in the way with me progressing in my business. It became easier once I was alot more consistent and a better plan for my business. As well, as actually believing in myself and KNOWING that my business will be successful no matter what. I’ve learned that it’s usually you stopping that success for yourself . Don’t compare yourself to others, just learn your craft more and see how YOU want your craft/business to be in your eyes. I think what sets me apart is honestly my customer service and my treats. I want people to not only enjoy my treats, but to enjoy the process of our interaction. I would love the world to know that I’m not finished yet, this is only the beginning for TreatsByKeely.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would first take them to Wabi House here in Fort Worth, because the food is so amazing ! Then we’d go to Clearfork to most likely shop. I feel as if Fort Worth and Dallas are growing a lot, so we’d definitely be in those areas. Going to Klyde Warren Park for the different food trucks. For breakfast, we’d go out to Dough Boy Donuts or Snooze. I just love being able to support small business and there are plenty growing around this area
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank my family, my boyfriend, friends, and my favorite two teachers. They’ve given me so much advice and encouraged me along the way ! My two favorite teachers are Chef Zameika Williams and Chef Stephanie Kinsey. They seen something in me that I really didin’t see in myself at first and I thank them everyday for sticking with me. I love everybody who has helped me in anyway. Lastly, I give a shout-out to myself for continuing on and growing through this journey of my business.
