We had the good fortune of connecting with Carly Rudd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I grew up raised with that mindset. Coming from a 7 generation Ranching family, My family have all been involved in running their own business’s. Running a working ranch is a crazy business that depends on a lot of different factors and a person has to be a proactive hard worker in order to keep up. This way of thinking has been instilled in me my entire life and has led me to applying that mindset towards everything I do.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First and foremost I am a rancher. I was born into it and it is my greatest honor yet toughest challenge to carry on the family legacy. We Operate a large grain and cattle ranch in Central California. Because of my agricultural background my passion for horses and rodeo is a given. I rodeo professionally and travel all over the country competing in both barrel racing and breakaway. My other career is I am a TV personality. I always had a passion for acting and I obtained a degree from UCLA in Mass Communications with a minor in Acting. My western background has led to a lot of my TV work. I’ve worked for the Equine Network Ride TV where I hosted my own television show as well as did sideline broadcasting. I was also the Host of NRATV and a Host for Gun TV.
What I always found interesting about my entrepreneurship is that it always comes back to my upbringing. What I have been truly passionate about my whole life is agriculture and it has led to success in every career I have taken on. I’ve learned to embrace my heritage and not be embarrassed or ashamed of who I am or what I come from but to share it with the world. The western way of life has this magical ora about it. I feel so lucky to stay true to my roots and to have a hand in helping feed America and the world as well as preserving what the good lord has given us in this world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love love Fort Worth. There are so many good places to eat and things to do. You can get the big city trendy feel and also the western country vibes the city exudes all in one day. Hit up west 7th street and go to all of the amazing food places and bars. One of my favorite places there is Eddie Vs and you can’t beat velvet Taco. You can go to a TCU game or event or if you are in the mood for Texas Tradition hit up the Will Rogers event center and go see Fort Worth’s Stock show and Rodeo. There is also the stockyards! Such a unique part of the city that sets it apart from other places. It’s like a step back in time with the old stone roads, saloons and Cattle drives. Definitely an all time favorite. They have weekly rodeos there as well.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All of my success is by the grace of God and because of my parents. My parents have pushed me to dream big and to work hard towards whatever I want to do. They have given me the tools and the mindset to succeed. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
