We had the good fortune of connecting with Calandra Hurd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Calandra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
It’s hard to pinpoint one thing that has lead to the success of my brand. It has taken consistency, quality work, customer service and knowledge of marketing. It has not been an overnight success but a long tedious passion for what I love to do.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am Calandra Hurd owner and operator of Coutourecuts Salon and Mobile service. I have been licensed in the hair industry for 18 years. I have traveled and added more experience to my career. I have training in color, cuts, extensions, behind the scenes of events and on set of photo shoots, tapings and productions as well as a wide range of products knowledge. I am currently licensed in Texas, Oklahoma and Nevada. My work has been published in numerous magazines and I have been on a segment of a nationally televised reality show. An Oklahoma native and the mother of two beautiful children. I was a cast member of two internet based Dallas reality shows, Bossn’ Up Dallas and Flaunt It both waiting to be released. I recently relocated back to Oklahoma but service clients in other states as well such as Atl where I worked with some of the industries top reality celebrities ( Dwight Eubanks, Saaphyri of Flavor of Love, Lisa Nykole of Married to Medicine and more) and crews. I recently opened my first salon and virgin hair beauty supply in Oklahoma. I currently operate a mobile salon catering to my clientele in the Dallas, Southeast Oklahoma and Nevada and a salon in Oklahoma City.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely have to hit up 560 in Reunion Tower, The Owners Box in Onmi and Sandaga 813 in downtown Dallas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to Ryan Johnson of Dallas, Tx for my early continuing education and Chuck Caple a Bronner Brothers educator legend for allowing me to assist in his classes and gain knowledge in the process.
