We had the good fortune of connecting with Blurry Paige and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blurry, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’d be making music whether it was my career or not.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is authentic. I think the world is oversaturated with perfection these days, so instead of making art that is commercial I like to make art that is real.

This career has its ups and downs. Some moments are hard and others are easy. The most difficult thing for me now is scheduling. I work 12 hour days every day, so I have to schedule in a day off every other week so that my body can recover.

I learned that the music scene in Dallas is a supportive community. We don’t compete against each other, we lift each other up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sundown at Grenada has an open mic night every Monday at 7:00pm. It’s called The Love Mic. You can discover local comedians, and musicians.

Henry’s Majestic has great food and live music. They also have brunch!

As a member of the LGBT’s, I like to go to Sue Ellens on the weekends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Michael Clay encouraged me to turn music into a career. I started by volunteering for his organization The Texas Music Project: hosting events, give aways, and music therapy programs for at risk youth. Seeing music’s ability to empower others inspired me to start my own band.
