Meet Ashley Roach: Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Roach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Texas and have lived here my whole life. My parents are both entrepreneurs and they’ve always modeled that lifestyle and career choice for me. I grew up thinking that having an entrepreneurial lifestyle was the norm and not the exception. So I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, set me own schedule and make my own rules!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It wasn’t easy but after several years of struggling, it’s easier now! My first challenge was getting potential clients to choose me. I continued to put myself in circles where those around me knew much more than I did. I attended workshops and styled shoots. I learned from those who went before me! Now that I have established my business, my challenges are more along the lines of managing my time effectively and learning to set boundaries.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Edison Coffee for morning coffee. A trip to the Flower Mound farmers market. Take the dogs to Meadowmere park on Grapevine Lake for a swim. Cafe medi in Keller for lunch. Some shopping on Grapevine Main Street and then Sloan & Williams for a late night bite and drinks!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes. I love this so much! Success as an entrepreneur largely depends on surrounding yourself with the right people. I frequently connect with other wedding professionals in DFW as I truly learn so much from them. Some of the people who inspire me creatively include Trish from @beatboxportraits and Kristin Black with @Ocularpop.
