We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley and TaShara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley and TaShara, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
TaShara: “This is going to sound very cliche, but I’m inspired by my children. Knowing that I get to play such a major part in shaping their view of the world, their experiences, the way they view themselves, and all things like that…that inspires me to go for the gold. I have to be the best version of whatever it is that I am, because I can’t screw these kids up. Lol.”

Ashley: “I agree with TaShara. My daughter inspires me to want to keep reaching for the stars and the moon. I want to show her that it’s never too late to go after your dreams. I want her to see that mommy never gave up no matter how hard things may have seemed she persevered through it all. What also inspires me is the feedback I get from our viewers. To know that they relate to us, that inspires me to keep going.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ashley and TaShara: “What sets us apart from others is that we’re Out LOUD with our experiences, but we have also created a safe space not just for ourselves, but for our guest to be themselves also. When doing interviews, it’s less of an interrogation and more of a conversation between friends. It definitely wasn’t easy at the beginning; since the podcast started, it’s had two other co-hosts. We appreciate the other two for being a part of it, but nothing fits as perfectly as it does now. Why it works for us the way it does, is because we were upfront with each other on what our vision was for the podcast. One of the lessons we have learned and are still learning is work life balance. We are both single mothers with an 8 to 5, we have family members who depend on us, we have friendships that we have to make time for, and we have other business ventures outside of podcast. We have learned that we can juggle a lot more than we thought, although, we’re still working on sharpening our time management skills. There are a host of challenges that come with airing a weekly podcast and juggling a full schedule outside of that studio, but we believe in this vision so fiercely we rise to the occasion. The podcast is already almost a year old. We want the world to know that you can be YOU, flaws and all, Out LOUD and it’s okay.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ashley and TaShara: “If our best friend were visiting, we’d definitely take them out to a nice restaurant that has good food, drinks, and music. One thing we’re going to do is go eat and have some drinks…lol. One of our favorite areas in Dallas is Uptown…especially the Margarita Mile. Of course, we’d take them to the studio to have them on the podcast. What’s surprising is that people you’d think wouldn’t be shy, are shy when they are in front of the camera, so it would be fun to see how they’d react.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ashley: ” I would first like shoutout God because without Him there would be no me. Secondly, my beautiful daughter Bella, she motivates me to go so hard in this life. I can never show her it’s okay to give up in life. I want to lead by example and show her that no matter how hard things may seem nothings impossible. Everything is within reach as long as you put in the work. Last, but not least my support system. My mother Sandra Baldivia (my backbone), my sister-in-law Laura Salas (the sister I never had), my friends of 20 plus years Shay Stennis (my workout partner), Raven Nicole Thurman (my plug aka the actress), and of course my soul sister and co-host TaShara Montana.

TaShara: “Of course I want to give the biggest and loudest shoutout to my 3 amazing kids: My beautiful twins Kylei and Kyra, my and fireball of a son Kieran. Every good thing that I am and will be is because of them. My children really do keep me going. Sometimes crazy, but at least they keep me moving. Lol. I must shout out my village, because I’ve been super blessed with family and friends that believe in me, push me, and love me: My mom, LaTonya; my little brother and practice kid, Jeremy; my grandmother, Bobbie; my best friend of 22 years, Phillip; my sister circle: Cheeka, Iyonna, CoCo, Damyra, Kirsten, and Kiesha; Dawn and Jacniquia Washington, and of course…my literal angel and co-host Ashley “Aye Bee” Baldivia. God knew what He was doing when he gave me these people and the love, I have for them is immeasurable.
