We had the good fortune of connecting with Arlena Bessard, LMT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arlena, how do you think about risk?
I believe taking a risk is quite pivotal to a person’s realization of some of their biggest blessings and successes. This is coming from an individual who didn’t ‘live’ for most of her life. Risk taking was out of the question in my younger years, I merely existed. Now I actively practice taking deep dives that scare me, lol! Recently, I expanded my business from my small hometown to The DFW area. That was a huge leap and I’m loving every minute of it. There’s always something you will really love as a result of leaping even if you have to do it afraid.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a holistic minded therapist, so the way I’ve built my business reflects my beliefs and methods. When you visit one of my locations (currently Beaumont, TX. and Arlington, TX.), you will experience this. We believe in nurturing your mind, body, and spirit for wellness and balance. The Heavenly Hands Massage And Bodywork difference is that we partner with you in your efforts to become your best version. We are a heath strategy and resource company completely here to serve you with education and guidance.

Speaking of direction, early on in my career I wasn’t exposed to business coaching, but as I and my business grew, I learned how vital the right coach/consultant is. Having sought them out, found “my fit” of a mentor and implemented what I learned. It’s a game-changer and I’m forever grateful. I’ve definitely bumped my head (and ‘gluteals’) a number of times, so having the right individual there guide you is priceless. I plan to pay it forward in helping other business owners, especially [massage] therapists.

I want everyone to know and feel help+hope. That’s both my personal and professional mission.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My bestie lives in Dallas and beat me here by 20 years, so there’s places she’s shown me! If were showing her around, here’s my list.

•Botanical Gardens
•Fort Worth Zoo
•Gloria’s Restaurant (if you appreciate adult grown-up sips, you’ll love their meltdowns)
•Buttons Restaurant
•Fossil Rim Wildlife Center (the drive-thru safari)
•Cedar Ridge Preserve (for hiking)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Personally: I have to start with my mother. She not only invested in me earlier in life overall, but she made my two professional licenses possible. Her best friend, to my “other mother” recognized my gift of a healing touch and encouraged me to get into massage therapy. To her credit, she didn’t let up until I went for it. I’m forever grateful.

Professionally: Candace Holyfield Parker a*k*a Sixfigurespachick who was a massage therapist by trade before turning into a business coach was a bowling ball of a reality check infused with new possibilities. She forced me to see what could be and how to march myself towards that.
