We had the good fortune of connecting with Antoinette Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antoinette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I work hard 40-50 hours a week for a company that doesn’t truly value me, and heavily underpays me. Waking up having to report on their time for their wages. I then have to go be a wife and mother to 3. I’ve watched this cycle go on over and over with my mother, grandmother, aunts, uncles, etc. I wanted…. No I needed to break this cycle. It started to feel like a curse and the only way out was to free myself and own my own company. I love being a wife and mother, but working for someone else is draining. So I decided to do something about it. My husband and I have been in and out of the gyms for years. I love working out and looking good while doing it. I’ve had a lot of “work out” outfits that have been of poor quality for their price. I got tired of it and just decided to come out with my own. So when a friend of mine, I call them my sisters, Stephanie Anderson and Kourtney Lampkin came to me with the thought of having a clothing line, I had to do it. I suggested a fitness line and we ran with it. The timing was perfect.

What should our readers know about your business?
We have a womens fitness line called 222 (2Twenty2) Fit. 222 Is an Angel number suggesting that you are at a point in your life where you are looking for some sense of Balance. It means to have Faith and keep Trusting. Ultimately, 222 represents “The Right One, Right Place, Right Time.”

We aren’t just a logo, we are a meaning. When you wear our products, we want you to be saying that you trust and believe in yourself and your ability. We are building a community. Like a support system. It’s easy to become lackadaisical and complacent. We post uplifting quotes, workouts and articles because we all need that push and reminder. We’re looking to involve trainers and nutritionists to our community as well so that we may offer specialized workouts and meal plans.

Getting to where we are today wasn’t easy at all. We overcame the countless obstacles and challenges with consistency. We’ve learned that it’s when things seem their hardest, that you’re almost at the finish line.

We want the world to know that our brand represents trusting in what you want, not thinking of the things you do not want. Believe in Yourself, the Universe, your Ability and your Higher Power that all things are working together for your greater good. The world should know that we all have the ability to create the future that we dream of. That even if you feel that you’re at the bottom, you don’t have to stay there.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1 – Brunch at Breadwinners and Mani Pedis at LaBella Nail & Spa

Day 2 – Shopping at Grapevine Mall, lunch at Yardbird Table & Bar, dinner and drinks at Happiest Hour

Day 3 – Full body massages and facials at Hiatus Spa + Retreat and Dallas Museum of Art

Day 4 – More shopping and hang out in Uptown or Deep EllumThe African American Musuem

Day 5 – Soiree Coffee Bar, Dinner at the Reunion Tower

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my husband! Without his support I don’t know where I would be. He’s pushes me, teaches me about business, and helps whenever I’m in need. He never lets me fall and makes sure I stay focused so I can reach my dreams and goals.

My Uncle Jerome has recently came into my life and has brought nothing but positivity. He’s supported me, voices his support, networks with me and is doing everything he can to make sure I learn all I can.
