We had the good fortune of connecting with Antoinette Foy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antoinette, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a young adult, by choice, I moved around often. Each time I moved I’d declutter and redesign a room in my new place. Doing so brought a lot of excitement to the move, in that I could literally start fresh.

Anytime someone visited any place I stayed, they’d always comment on how well designed and comfortable my space felt. It was comments, suggestions, and nudges that helped me hatch a plan for my business.

I figured if I could bring that amount of pride and happiness to someone else why not give it a shot!? I truly enjoy making homes and spaces dreamy and beautiful. It’s that kind of passion that drives me forward in each design.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Everyone wants to live in a home that feels comfortable, inviting, and truly theirs, but a lot of times they aren’t sure how to get there. Thus Exquisite Designs by Foy was born! It’s our mission to help bring clients’ vision to life. It’s a truly remarkable process.

With each project, we sit down with our clients and ask tons of questions. We have to get a good sense of the design request so we can get it right. Then I go back to “the lab” and begin my research. All throughout I keep my clients abreast of all things so they feel comfortable moving forward through each part of the process.

During design implementation, I always try to incorporate a unique piece, a fun pop of color, or a wild accent. It helps set us apart and makes the design more custom to each client. I also like to source pieces from local small businesses. This spreads the word about a great small business and also adds that extra little touch to the design. It’s a win-win!

Things haven’t been and aren’t always easy, especially during a world crisis like a pandemic. But because of the trust we’ve built and the services we’ve delivered clients keep coming. It’s humbling.

There are always challenges with anything you do. At EHDBF, we tackle any problem that comes our way and find the best solution possible. If a client is upset or doesn’t understand something the best thing to do is talk it out with them. If a product is delayed we either get approval to wait or as with most of our projects we source alternatives, for this exact reason. At the end of the day, the goal is to have a successful project and a happy client so we work to make sure we can accomplish that each and every time.

Exquisite Home Designs by Foy is here to stay! We love working in this industry and its ever-evolving nature. This has been a wild ride and we’re ready for whatever comes next!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are TONS of things to do in the DFW area. I absolutely love that about the city.

Depending on the time of year, you can catch a concert or game at the AAC. I also love a good escape room. There are plenty around town, but I enjoy Escapology located in Victory Park. There are lots of fun and interesting shops in Bishop Arts. I love going down there and window shopping. You can never go wrong with drinks on a rooftop. The Aloft in Dallas has amazing views and live music.

Breakfast: For simple, fresh, and cost-effective, my go-to is Mama’s Daughter’s Diner. The food is delicious, OMG get the pancakes!! And the staff is so friendly.

Brunch: I really enjoy Meddlesome Moth or The Henry. Both are really nice spots and have great food/drinks.

Dinner options: One of my favorite places to get great BBQ is Pecan Lodge located in Deep Ellum. If it’s a swanky and Instagramable place you’re looking for XOXO is perfect!

Klyde Warren Park can be pretty neat if you want to lounge or relax. It’s a park on top of an overpass in the center of Dallas. There’s plenty of green space, food trucks, and a big stage that is often used for shows.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have an incredibly supportive partner. Anytime I’m struggling with anything, she’s there to offer a comforting word and a little nudge that reminds me “I’ve got this!” She accepts my process and allows me to do the work I love doing.

I also have a small team that helps keep things running. Whether it’s answering an email, pulling pricing, or contacting vendors, my little village helps get the job done and done right!

The other massive contributor to our success is our clients. We honestly wouldn’t be here without them. Every client we’ve worked with welcomed us into their homes and allowed us to transform their space. It can be a vulnerable situation letting strangers into your personal space, but our clients have been the best clients and we are forever grateful to each and every one. They’ve also been repeat clients, rate, review, and refer! I couldn’t ask for more!
