We had the good fortune of connecting with Anita Florez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success as being a growing photographer thus far has definitely been my family. They have always supported me and my decisions. They encourage me to always do the best and be the best that I can be, no matter what challenges arise. Not to mention, they all chipped in to buy me my first camera. They are literally what started my small career. I am so thankful for them and all that they have done for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ever since I can remember Ive always wanted to be a photographer. I started to really get into it when I was about 14 (I’m 21 now). When I started taking it more seriously, I noticed that I really had an eye for it. However, other people thought that I was very “simple” when it came to my photos. That definitely put a damper on how I felt about photography for a while. But I learned, that everyone is different. No one is going to like the same thing as the next person. So I learned to overcome the opinions other people had about my work. As long as I love it, then that’s what matters. So I’d definitely say that my work is simple, but in my own beautiful way. I love to enhance the color and make the subject stand out to its full potential. Nothing more and nothing less!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely show them around downtown Fort Worth/Sundance Square area. Especially during the evening! It’s always so beautiful during that time. I would also love to take them to the different lakes here! I’m an outdoors person, so that would definitely be top 3 o my list to take them!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My aunt. She has been my backbone and biggest supporter and cheerleader throughout this whole process. She pushes me and always makes sure I have my eyes on the prize. She has let me practice on her for so many different gigs. I probably wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for her!
