We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Dewey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear about how you met the person you love.
Considering I work in the fitness industry, it sounds so cliche’, but my husband and I met at the gym. Once we acknowledged the mutual attraction, I think we both surprised each other with our similar interests. While I definitely “fell” in love, it was more of a gradual slide for my husband. I was a divorced mom of two, and he was an older bachelor, so joining our lives took a ton of compromise for both of us, but now 12 years later with 4 kids and demanding jobs, staying in love is actually probably easier for us than falling in love was!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The thing that sets me apart in my business is that despite being a business in the fitness industry, I work incredibly hard not to promote diet culture and instead to promote empowerment in health and wellness. It is *not* an easy sell; colleagues pass me by left and right, as easy fixes and being skinny are an easy sell. I feel proud and confident that I am making a real difference in how women feel both physically and mentally due to my work in this field.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I plead the 5th! I’m a total homebody and would mostly treat my guests to home cooked meals and drinks! If we had to go out, it would maybe be a spa day or something way outside of the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t do what I do without the love, support, and grace my family gives me. My husband and kids are not only my biggest fans, but honor the fact that I have passions and desires too, and give me the space and respect to work, guilt-free, on what brings me joy.
