We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allison, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to offer therapy from a Christian perspective that also offers practical application to deal with mental health issues.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Although there are many Christian counselors around, what sets me apart is also offering spiritual insight that may call for deliverance. Deliverance is a particular spiritual warfare that one has to be aware of and know how to assist the client in walking into spiritual freedom. I am presently where I am because I took a “leap of faith” and left a well-paying job to branch out on my own. I did not want restrictions with helping my clients be free spiritually and mentally.
I will admit that it is challenging to have a steady caseload because people know they need help but are afraid to get help. There is still a bit of a stigma when it comes to seeking counseling within some communities.
I am still learning how to navigate being an entrepreneur in this field. I’m learning the importance of having a niche and what marketing looks like for me.
I want the world to know that counseling is basically talking to a good friend that will keep your deepest secrets. It is a safe place and it DOES NOT mean you are crazy!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Unfortunately I don’t hang out a lot and am not aware of the “hotspots”. I would love to check out a movie that includes dining, like Studio Movie Grill. Maybe checking out a good Mexican food spot like Gloria’s one day. If it’s a really nice day, hanging out at Trader’s Village to bargain shop. I do enjoy a good amusement park experience so Six Flags would be on the list or the State Fair if it’s the right time of year.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this to my father and mother whose support and encouragement have been invaluable to me. They are this counselor’s counselor!
