We had the good fortune of connecting with Akshiena Khanna Kumar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akshiena Khanna, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Waking up every day and being able to do something that you truly love is a blessing. Being an Art Director and Graphic Designer is something that makes me happy and is extremely fulfilling. It’s always been a dream for me to be able to work with multiple brands and to create art for them that brings out their true personality and brand vision. Other things that make me very happy are music, travel, and spending time with loved ones.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I complete 11 years in the creative industry this year and it’s been an amazing journey! I have worked in two countries and across various industries. I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing brands such as Danone, Silk, Taj Hotels, Campbell’s, Campari, Mary Kay, and ZipRecruiter.

The one thing that I always strive to do as a designer is to bring in a fresh perspective and try and push the boundaries on even the most simplistic of projects. I always believe in maintaining a relentless work ethic and going that extra mile to make sure my client’s goals are met.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Here is an amazing itinerary for a “Dallas Day Out”

• Start the day with brunch at Mercat Bistro Dallas
• Spend the day at the Dallas Museum of Art
• Take a bike ride to Deep Ellum and spend some time at Spinster Records
• Go to Eataly for a slice of pizza and some Italian wine followed by window shopping at Northpark mall
• Coffee and board games at Wild Detectives in Bishop Arts
• Evening drinks at Paradiso and a taco at Tejas in Bishop Arts
• Dinner at Café Madrid in Uptown
• End the night with some Honky Tonk dance at Cowboys Red River or karaoke at Sherlocks in Addison

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my career, there have been a lot of learnings from lots of amazing leaders.

I would firstly like to thank my parents for recognizing my talent way before I did. Most Indian parents push their children into more traditional career paths. My parents on the contrary saw a creative in me and pushed me to develop my skills.

I would also like to give a special shoutout to my team at TPN Dallas, which is a global creative commerce agency. My time at TPN taught me that you need two things in order to succeed at any task at hand. One is to have a solid work ethic and the second is to always lead with empathy.
