Meet 512Craves | Food Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with 512Craves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi 512Craves, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We are two sisters that decided to partner up last spring during COVID19 and create our own food Instagram @512craves. With COVID19 being a prominent thing in our lives, and most of our classes being online we decided to start posting old and new photos of some of our favorite restaurants that we have been to. What started out as a hobby and something fun turned into a full-time commitment. We watched our account quickly gain followers, and before we knew it, brands were reaching out to us in hopes of collaborating.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are just two college students that decided to share some of our favorite restaurants and brands on Instagram. We are always excited to partner and collaborate with big brands such as Crumbl, Tiff’s Treats, and Cinnaholic. We have always been a big fan of most of the companies we work with, so it was exciting when they said they would like to collaborate. It definitely was not easy starting out and it took us a few months to get to where we are today. The most difficult part was growing our following but we managed to just that and all of a sudden would get over 100 new followers every week. We want people to know that we are two sisters that genuinely care about what we post and love sharing our experiences and thoughts with others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since we are based in Austin, we would start off by taking our friend to Mozarts which is an adorable cafe right on the lake. The food and drinks are amazing along with the atmosphere. We would then stop by South Congress which is notorious for shopping and good food. We would stop by our favorite boutique, Impeccable Pig, and then go by the Salty Donut for some good donuts. Afterwards, we would head over to Zilker Park to have a picnic with friends and watch all of the dogs run around. Later that night we would go to Zanzibar or P6 for some good drinks and happy hour food. The next day, we would grab lunch at Aba which is the cutest Mediterranean restaurant in Austin. You typically have to make a reservation there weeks in advance because it is just too good. Later that night we would go to Home Slice Pizza which is famous in Austin for having the best New York style pizza. To end the trip on the best note, we would go to Nervous Charlies the next day to have some amazing New York style bagels.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to shoutout all of our friends that followed and supported us from the very beginning. They were some of the first ones to follow us and help share our new Instagram page. They have been with us from the start and have watched and helped us grow ever since.
