We had the good fortune of connecting with 1DR Gson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 1DR, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I value time more than anything, it took me a while to realize but I had to learn that’s the most valuable thing we have as a human on this earth. You’ll never reach your goals if you can’t make yourself unavailable to others, you have to be selfish with your time. And there’s a lot of principles I stand on but one of the biggest ones is standing up for what you believe in regardless of what it is and who’s with you or not. There’s a lot of people who will try to take your happiness away and talk down on you but as long as you know where you stand and where you will stand once it’s all said and done, then there’s no need for you to respond to outsiders.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I go by 1DR Gson, 1DR meaning one deep rich, my brand and also gives a true meaning to who I am as a person. For a long time I’ve had to figure out life on my own and I’ve been abandoned by some of the people I love the most and though all the hurt and pain I’ve experienced, I kept God in me and it made me a better person and artist. I put my heart and pain into my music weather it’s lyrical or melodic I am one the most versatile artist in Dallas and I stand on keeping my music raw and authentic because if it’s not real people don’t need to hear it. Every word every lyric is true to me and who I am.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Gotta pull up to Rudy’s first that’s the classic. Imma Dallas baby Pleasant Grove born, Oak Cliff and Duncanville raised so it’s important to show off the classic spots around my city. It’s too many chicken places to name you see anyone on the corner of the block, those the ones you gotta hit for sure. I love LA I’ve had 2 shows there and a third one coming up in June so that’s always my go to. Everything about the city I go crazy for. I’m a fan of New York and up north places like Virginia and Pittsburgh. Something about being up north is just a feeling like no other I wouldn’t mind ducking off somewhere secluded up north.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Just wanna shoutout anyone who’s ever rocked with me since the start, it’s not many but I love all my fans, family and loyal people. Also BIG shoutout to my biggest supporter Chyna, my girlfriend and bestfriend.
