We had the good fortune of connecting with Akita Gragg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akita, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
When managing any type of business, there will be obstacles that one must overcome. Throughout my journey, I’ve had times where I was discouraged and overwhelmed to the point where I had to take a break and reevaluate if this was something I really wanted to do. I must say, My faith in God is what has kept me in this. God would have never given me this vision if he felt that it was something I could not handle. Speaking from my experience, starting Pish Posh Boutique was the easy part. The challenges came once it was time to run the business. So many things came into play when trying to make sure your business is ran the right way. (networking, marketing, posting content, staying up-to-date with trends, etc) As a small business owner, the process can be very tedious with all the intricate details you must remember. Planning ahead, finding and attracting my target audience, and most importantly prayer is what has brought me through. When faced with adversity, it is important to remain focused and trust the process. How to know whether to keep going or give up? I just constantly remind myself, “Nothing worth having will come easy“.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us how you started and how you got to where you are today?
So My love affair began as a young girl watching my mom dress up and match patterns and pieces together. I mean this lady could go into a store with $20 bucks and style it like a million dollar outfit. She taught me “fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it”. I even took her jewelry and matched them with my outfits for school (shhh don’t tell her that) I’d spend hours creating different looks with characters and personalities to match. She always tells me “I believe God gave you my dream, before I got pregnant with you I had the same vision of being apart of the fashion industry”. Well, thank God! As an introvert, Fashion is an outlet and form of creative expression for me. Each look allows me to transform into whomever I want to be on any given day. Although my love for Fashion has always been true, our uncertain future often caused me to pursue other professions, but somehow I always found my way back into the fashion industry. In 2018, I decided to follow my heart. It is my love for Fashion that has allowed me to birth Pish Posh Boutique, a meticulously curated assembly of flirty, fun, fashion-forward styles. Each piece is hand selected by yours truly and designed to make a statement while helping you feel more beautiful, confident, and fearless without breaking the bank. It is my sincere wish that while shopping my looks, you will fall in love with fashion as I did as a young girl. Has it been easy? Pish Posh Boutique is an online women’s clothing boutique which started in Arkansas and two years later made its way to Dallas, Tx. Our goal is to make women feel confident, elegant, and sexy without the hefty price tag. We sell top trends and latest fashion. We want all women, of all sizes, to feel confident. I strongly believe in building self-esteem, and knowing that I have the opportunity to help women feel good about themselves makes it all worth it! With new arrivals dropping bi-weekly, we ensure all of our posh babes are confident and ready to take on the world in whatever they have on. Pish Posh Boutique WILL blossom from a e-commerce store into a lifestyle brand that provides statement pieces for any and every occasion in a woman’s life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, shoutout to God. Without him know I wouldn’t be the go-getter I am today. I am so grateful to have some wonderful people in my corner! My parents have always been huge advocates for anything that I wanted to pursue. In addition, I have a few friends that are extremely supportive. Thank you for praying for me, pushing me on days I felt like giving up and supporting me throughout this journey. Whether I’ve known you my entire life, a few years, or even a few months, you have all played an important role in my life!
