Meet Chania Whitaker | Chiropractic Intern and Personal Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chania Whitaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chania, how do you define success?
I could always say I will be successful when I make x amount of money, live in a big home, and drive a nice car. However, that frame of mind keeps me from celebrating my small wins along the way.
I redefine success for myself daily. Some days I’m successful if I’m able to get out of bed and take care of myself, other’s it’s if I see a full day of patients with two personal training sessions with my clients. I have a busy life being a Chiropractic Intern and being a personal trainer in person and online. However, it’s important to remember I’m more than just these jobs titles, which is why it’s important to remember that we are human beings, and some days my success is just finishing a painting.
Keeping success close in the future and not years away has allowed me to keep my happiness in the present.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ll be honest with you, from my many years of schooling to become a soon to be chiropractor and a current personal trainer, studying was the easy part. It didn’t seem easy at the time, however looking back I see clearly. As a chiropractic Intern I work in a clinic and able to see all types of patients to serve the DFW area. Putting everything I learned from the past 3 years together to present as a confident and knowledgeable practitioner is the hard part. Everyday presents new challenges and what keeps me going is that pure and honest fact that I love the profession I am in. With chiropractic, I’ve seen near miracles happen. Taking people out of pain that keeps them from doing what they love is a gift I never knew I could give until I started my time in clinic.
I’m able to carry this into my personal training when I train with my clients one on one. Using my knowledge from not just my personal training but also Chiropractic school, I have the confidence to know I can help. Knowing that I am actively helping people improve their lives is an excitement I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would recommend visiting the bishop arts district. There’s so many places to eat, live jazz at Revelers Hall and bookstores to look around. Makes a great day trip to see a very different side of Dallas. I really recommend Oasis Plant Shop, it’s women’s owned and the absolute cutest plant shop I have ever visited in my life. Worth the visit!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my friends and family that have supported me throughout these years. Especially my mother for her constant love and support.
