We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Shelton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
The sense of always wanting to one up myself

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart as an artist is my ability to evoke a specific emotion. Typically a subtle emotion that you can’t seem to name. I am always most excited about the future and what lies around the corner. I got where I am today in my career through dedication, resilience and refusing to “people please”. It has not been easy but it is very rewarding. I overcome the hard parts by pushing further into myself and learning more about myself and then bringing it out to show you through art. A big lesson I’ve learned along the way is to stay true to yourself and by doing that, you will never let yourself down. I want the world to see my perspective, not because I think it’s better, but because I think it’s different.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would go play 18 holes of golf in the morning at Hide-A-Way country club. Then I would go eat at In n Out. Then I would go see a Dallas stars game and then finish the night at Bishop cidercade.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the people of Tyler, TX
