We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith McCarty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meredith, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, several members in my family owned their own business. The most influential among them was my mom, who worked tirelessly to ensure hers would be successful. I admired her work and her passion for her career. I of course wanted to follow suit. I have always been passionate about photography and decided to turn it into a business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love capturing emotion and moments that can be held onto for generations. I am the most proud of my model portfolio and would love to get more into working with agencies on set. It was a ton of work to get to where I am today, and I am super fortunate to be in my position. Since being very young I was often undermined as a business owner. People constantly attempted to take advantage of my time, prices and age. Ive learned that my work and time is valuable and I need to stand up for myself and focus on clients who also realize that. I want the world to know that being young is not disadvantage and you can do what you want only if you have the drive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would have brunch at Snug cafe then go shopping at NorthPark and Legacy West, where would have dinner at Mesero and then go to a movie.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom was always my biggest supporter, no matter how busy she always showed up. Soccer games, Tennis tournament, or to help me with photography events. She has always encouraged me to be my most professional and hardworking self and was always willing to give advice and constructive criticisms in order for that to be possible.
