We had the good fortune of connecting with Jo Reyes and Carol Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jo and Carol, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We come from a background of entrepreneurs, but starting a balloon business was never our intention. It just kind of happened. We were always the ones in the family to organize parties, last year a family member asked for our help. That’s when we decided to go for it and start with what we love to do most BALLOONS! It has not been easy starting a business at this point in time, but it has been rewarding. We enjoy seeing our customers reaction when we finish out set up’s.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart from others is the passion we have for this art. We just don’t see it as a side hustle we pour our hearts into every balloon styling that we do. We don’t leave until we feel proud of the work we have done, because it represents us. We’re continually striving to offer better products/services through education/training which would, ultimately, benefit out clients. Even though it has been challenging at times, as competition is fierce in this field, our main focus has been to provide quality products at a competitive price. We are two Latina chics striving to leave a mark in this industry. Wether it’s a balloon bouquet or balloon styling we want to show our dedication and commitment to our clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To start off the week, we would have breakfast at Oddfellows located in Bishop Arts District. Take a stroll around the local shops located in the area. In the evening, we would go to Trinity Groves for dinner at Beto and Son’s to enjoy a Liquid Nitrogen Margarita. A trip to the Dallas Zoo, to enjoy the majestic beauty of exotic animals, would definitely be on our itinerary. We would go to Texas live for dinner and drinks. To finish off the weekend, for breakfast we would drive down to Fort Worth to enjoy some delicious Menudo from La Hacienda Restaurant and of course take pictures of all the Selena memorabilia.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We attribute our success to our family 100% . Especially our husbands for always helping us either delivering or building our props. We are truly thankful for all their love and support.
