We had the good fortune of connecting with Tressie Zellner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tressie, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work/life balance hasn’t always felt like one of our strong suits, and while it can be hard for anyone to achieve, being the owner of a small business makes the task seem herculean in nature. Over time we’ve realized homeostasis isn’t obtained through a rigid schedule or routine, but through knowledge that somedays the scales might be tipped a little more in the other direction. Rather than beating ourselves up over having to let emails wait another day we enjoy where we are in the moment and commit to focusing when we can get back to it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are Chad + Tressie Zellner, the eyes behind Two Pair Photography, a husband and wife duo traveling non-stop for killer couples around the world. For the last 13 years we’ve been granted an all access pass to the greatest love stories of peoples lives through their wedding day. We are passionate about telling those stories fully and authentically from a unique artistic standpoint, and having a blast doing it! We hold tight to the philosophy that people should be themselves fully and unapologetically, and try to live our own life in that way. We are fun, spontaneous, and see the world as our playground. Our calmness, zest for life, and ability to read people has all contributed in our success. Our learning curves have been gifts to understanding people more fully. Through not taking ourselves too seriously and being easy going we feel thankful for the trust people place in our hands to tell their stories. And we really enjoy each others company so that’s a bonus.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love grabbing a drink at Little Darlin, snagging a burger at Pool Burger, and then heading to Deep Eddy to mix that hot sun with the cold spring waters. In the morning we’d grab some Bird Bird Biscuit or Paperboy then spend the afternoon on Lady Bird Lake. Patrizi’s, Bufalina, Juliet’s are a heavy rotation for me because I love Italian food. Elizabeth Street, Easy Tiger, and Dan’s Hamburgers are Chad’s regulars. Pro tip: don’t leave the city limits without going to Boteco. It’s the best food truck on the planet. Honestly there is too much great food to list. A good week in Austin means the entire time would be a carousel of delicious food, drinks, music, art, and nature and it’s not hard to find. I would hope to catch live music, a ballet, a local theater production, and a couple of art shows. And if we’re not ending the weekend getting matching tattoos, what’s the point?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our family and friends. We have leaned on every single one of our family members and closest friends to keep this ship moving, and couldn’t have done it without them. They have been our cheerleaders, babysitters, meal makers, and provided ongoing encouragement and advice.
