We had the good fortune of connecting with Irtashia Horn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Irtashia, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Yes I do. “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty” Maya Angelou
Much like the butterfly, I’ve had to go through some dark times and struggles to not only appreciate the beautiful outcome
What is now but to appreciate the journey itself. Like one of my favorite poems by Langston Hughes – life for me,ain’t been no crystal stair. I am truly grateful for what I’ve gone through, my illnesses included (Crohn’s & Adrenal Disease) have shaped and molded me into the mom, sister, daughter, friend and mompreneur that I am today. Just like the butterfly, God has positioned me with my wings here in earth and it’s time to fly. Every morning, I tell my self in the mirror “Let’s soar into our next step and level in life, God continue to lead me”
What should our readers know about your business?
This last year has been a world wind to say the least. Not only did I graduate, get certified, licensed and open a brand new business in the middle of a global pandemic!! Can we say WOW! It makes me eager to see what’s next. So many doors have opened once I put my trust and faith in God fully. The top challenges were getting out of my head. Sometimes we’re our own worse enemy. I said to myself 2/28/20 when I graduated that I would give my 2 week notice in within 6 months. Welp, September hit and God had other plans, he secretly knew I wouldn’t make that leap right then, so I was laid off, 1 week after my birthday. I had been within the company 5.5 years. What I’ve learned this is year is “ALL IN DUE TIME”. There’s absolutely no rush and what is for you will be for YOU! We decided to merge name our spa as NamasteReign Spa, because Namaste brings peace and earthy healing feelings while reign allows us to treat every person that comes through our spa like royalty. Despite being a single mom and having to debilitating autoimmune diseases— I choose those as my super power. Those particular items push me to the limits and allows my son to see how hard I am working and to understand my passion for what I do now. I want women, men, teens to know your story can be your storm, pick up your umbrella and face it head on. No excuses Sometimes our storm isn’t for us but for us to share to help someone else.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love museums and the symphony!! I normally take everyone who isn’t from here, I am a huge historical junkie lol . So first on my list would be the JFK 6Th floor museum. Taking the JFK tour around Dallas gives you so much insight on the week of him visiting before his untimely days. I’d definitely take them to torchys (on the low end) and Ocean Prime being one of my favorite steakhouses.
I love wine so wine tasting would be an awesome. There are a few vineyards as well here in our grapevine area
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give an extreme amount of props to my business partner Ebony Perry. I am so thankful for her strength, work ethic, passion and go getter attitude. She’s a single mom to a boy just like me.
