We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzy Moritz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Suzy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I retired from the real estate and mortgage business 15 years ago to become a full time professional artist. I did this because it was a dream come true, finally!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am proud that my journey has taken me to creativity beyond my expectations! I got where I am today, because of hard work and determination. A non-stop attitude and a multitude of supportive friends and collectors. No, it was not easy. Rejection is one of the hardest parts of being a creative. You just have to keep going no matter what. I a well known for my lively pet portraits, architectural renderings and paintings, wall murals and representational landscapes, all of which can be found in many homes, businesses and hotels throughout the United States.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all, Dallas is a wonderful place to share with visitors. I would definitely start out with downtown, where there are sculptures of a wonderful cattle drive, the Omni Hotel, where I have over 400 pieces of original art. I think the Sixth Floor Museum is a must as well as the Dallas Museum of Art. Also, The Cedars Arts District ( where my studio has been located for 11 years) The Design District, The Downtown Arts District. The fun restaurants on Lower Greenville and the Historic sights of Oak Cliff and The Bishop Arts District.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have lots of people to thank for this artistic journey! My husband, Scott Rawdin, for his unfailing support. My daughter, JT Hayler, who encourages me every day. My mentor, Kathleen DelloStritto, who pushed me even when my first painting turned out black! Frankie Garcia III, FGIII Fine Art Productions, my manager and friend, who has believed in me over the past 10 years!
