We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey McEuin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
Well this is an easy one… Even though I read very often, the one book that I read daily is the Bible. Everything in my life is guided by God, and reading His Words in Scripture create a playbook for my daily life. Even in the midst of all of the craziness in our world right now, it is a constant reminder of who God is and how much He loves each of us. He is the reason that I have lived a blessed life, and brought my incredible and beautiful wife and four amazing kids into my life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Project RELO is a national 501c3 nonprofit organization that is designed to change a national narrative on the way that companies bring veteran talent into their firms. May companies, still to this day, hire veterans because it is a socially good thing to do. And we see this prevalent on patriotic holidays where veterans are thanked for their service. We want to change that narrative and educated corporate leaders that hiring “the right” veteran is a strategic move and is good for business. We take corporate executives from the comforts of their five star accommodations and immerse them into a 72 hour pseudo military operation, where for the first time in many years, they become the follower. These military operations, which are conducted on military bases across the nation, are led by military personnel, and veterans who have a desire to work for the companies these executives represent. During these immersive events, executives are taught navigation skills, convoy operations, tactical communications, weapons familiarization, negotiation skills, and much, much more. The number one thing that is taken away from these events, is that these executives get a first hand view of the character that every veteran possesses. That away from what they see in black and white on their CVs or resumes, they get to see how high performing teams are created. Through relationships. Each day is different than the last, and that is one of the amazing things about leading this tremendous organization. I am in constant communication with corporate leaders from Directors of HR all the way to Fortune 500 CEOs and they lean on me for guidance on how to better their companies. That is no small feat for a small nonprofit organization, but it is one we do with tons of pride. Each day I get to give back to my brothers and sisters in arms, and help them as they begin their journey after they end their service to our great nation. To say that it was easy to get to where we are now, is a complete farce. There have been so many sleepless nights, and growth moments. But that is exactly what I look at them as, moments that help me grow into a better leader. One of the main questions that is asked at many job interviews is how do you handle conflict. Well in our society we see conflict as a negative word, but conflict is truly a stepping stone to growth. If there is anything that I want people to know about my personal brand and my story, is that I am a resilient human being and there is nothing in this world that I cannot accomplish. If I am forwarded the opportunity, I will seize that moment and make it happen.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow… This is truly a loaded question!!! HAHA! If I had a friend that was visiting for the first time and they gave me free reign to plan the entire trip, I would have to say that first and foremost, we would plan everything around each meal. I know that seems kind of weird, but here in the DFW area, we have some of the most prolific restaurants to enjoy. I would definitely want to take them to a few of my favorite spots like BarTaco, Legacy West in Plano, and Serious Pizza. Attractions would definitely include the Star in Frisco, Downtown Dallas, Klyde Warren Park, The Rustic, and then head out to Fort Worth and show them the stockyards. Obviously if there were any sports games going on we would have to check out a Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars, or any other DFW professional team!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, as I have already mentioned with the most recent book I’ve read, God is always number one and deserves all of the credit for everything in my life. There are plenty of people that help me become who I am today. My wife, Sage, is my everything! She is the reason that I strive to be the best at everything I do. She pushes me to be a better version of myself each and every day. My kids… There are no words to describe the pride I have to be a father to these four amazing kiddos! Each and every day, I work my tail off to be not only the best dad and husband I can, but for them to look at me with pride and say, “that’s my dad!”. Professionally, I would have to say Christian Anschuetz, founder of Project RELO. He saw something in me many years ago, to hand over the keys to Project RELO and let me flourish and succeed! He trusted me with his idea, and together we took that idea and created one of the top veteran nonprofits in the country. There are so many people that deserve credit in my life, and I would be talking forever and bore the readers! Let me just put it in these terms. If you are still in my life today, then I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for playing a significant role in my life.
