We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa The Vivacious and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa The, how does your business help the community?
I host a podcast called Humanity 2.0 Podcast. My podcast is also produced by my production company, Vanessa The Vivacious Productions. Humanity 2.0 helps the community and world by sharing stories of humanity, hope, inspiration, and everything in between. It’s my belief that in hearing the stories of others, we connect, we heal, we learn, grow, and become inspired to be the absolute best humans we can be. By inspiring humanity, the goal is to encourage us all to be better humans and create a humanity 2.0 for future generations.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When hosting Humanity 2.0 Podcast, I am most proud of the honor bestowed on me to share such amazing stories about my guests and their humanity, their perspective on humanity, and their message to humanity. I feel like I’m the lucky one because I get to bear witness and share their words with the world. What set’s me apart is my ability to get deep and make the guest so comfortable- they forget they are on a podcast; so they share honestly and without guard. As a Freelancer with a DBA (Vanessa The Vivacious Productions) I pride myself on being a jack of all trades, a generalist as it were. I enjoy helping clients with podcasts, video, film, audio, graphic design, and much more. Simply having the opportunity to be creative is a gfit and I hope that I use this gift everyday.

The creative path is not easy, being a freelancer is not easy. However when it came to acquiring a corporate setting job to pay the bills and then suffering both physically and mentally there, it was a no brainer that I needed to get back to creative work and make it my sole focus. Currently I’m still navigating the waters of freelance, but I have a supportive family and they encourage me to go for whatever dream I want. I also take the POV that this is the one life we have and we have to live it! That helps me when I feel obstacles or an air of imposter syndrome on the rise.

I want the world to know that Humanity 2.0 Podcast is an opportunity to connect with fellow humans and learn from their experiences. We all have stories that should be shared with the world, I hope you’ll support my mission to connect their world and share their stories. When it comes to Vanessa The Vivacious Productions, I am a Latina based freelance company of 1, fierce and vivacious. There’s no project to small or invaluable – your vision is my vision. I hope to continue to work with clients and also work on some films of my own.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my guests downtown to see the big eye and Dallas Museum of Art, then have drinks at ATT Discovery District. We would take in a concert with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, have more drinks at my favorite speak easy, Branca Room. Shop in the Bishop Arts District, and definitely spend some time at Winstar. After much travel, I would take my guest for a relaxing soak at Spa Castle.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ira Glass, This American Life; hands down. Growing up with NPR and then discovering storytelling through This American Life – I was inspired by Ira and his ability to extract the essence of the story and deliver in a cohesive and entertaining manner. I was not mentored directly but from afar, I was inspired to learn and seek more information than what was in front of me. I was inspired to ask questions and get the real stories that make our hearts full, our memories seared with these amazing human moments. If I had to choose someone I know, I would choose my mother. She is gone now, but in her life- she was my fan who believed I walked on water and we all need that “fan”.
