Meet Liann Hinojosa | Creative Artist and Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Liann Hinojosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liann, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success to me, is living with intention, a guide for who I want to be or accomplish. Intention is a daily practice vs goals are things to cross off a list.
I strive to be a better person with my personal, and professional self. The quote I live by is the definition of a Greek word, Meraki. To do something with soul, creativity, or love; to leave a piece and essence of yourself in your work.
The greatest success is seeing a customer’s face when they see their Custom Order. It brings joy to my heart to make others happy, and through my art, I get to do this.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
With I Live For Bling, our products are each unique as we use vintage and new rhinestone or crystal jewelry, Bling, to create a unique piece for each person. With Custom Orders, I like to tell a story with the pieces I use, and write a letter to the recipient explaining the piece.
I started this by just playing with jewelry, creating crosses, and letters for friends. I continued to get suggestions I should sell my pieces. I have been doing this for 6 years, and continue to enjoy every piece I make.
The biggest lesson I have learned is to not give up. I have thought about it several times, but then I get something positive in feedback or sales. I just received an order from a client from 4 years ago, for Day of the Dead masks done in jewelry. I have friends that remind me why I started this Out of fun, for the love of Bling, and to share that love of Bling in a variety of ways spreading a smile or two along the way. It has definitely been an uphill climb, however I try to remain positive.
One main thing to know about me is I Love my business, I love creating, and love writing. I keep myself going by doing Random Acts of Kindness. I have small smiley faces and painted rocks in my purse, and I pass them out telling the person, You are Loved, You are Worthy, and you are appreciated.
I would like people to know it can be a struggle, but stay true to who you are, and the rest will come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with going to The Toilet Lid Museum, in Grandscape. Then head into Grandscape for a great burger at LSA- Lone Star Attitude. Then go around the corner for an amazing ice cream sandwich! You pick the cookies, and ice cream you want. This is by far, the most fun to take someone to! For a day of shopping small stores, I would start in Highland Village at The Painted Tree. They have lots of fun goodies to find, including my booth! For a fun evening, I would go to Grapevine. Start with the fun small shops, and then interspersed are great places for Happy hour, many of which have live music. Whether you are a Cowboys fan or not, you should once in your life, take the tour of the Stadium. It is a guided tour with fascinating touches, and amazing art. You will not be disappointed!. And if it is in town, NASCAR is actually fun to go to a race (with headphones!) and feel the rush of wind go by as the cars go by you. I would have to take an afternoon in Cowtown, and then take them boot-scooting. A must is eating at Joe T Garcia’s, on the patio, but get there early! It is quite the array of things to do, which makes living here so much fun!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Painted Tree, in Highland Village took a risk, but got me in a space within 3 days. My craft is designing wood pieces, and decorating with vintage and new jewelry pieces. My customers that come back each holiday, or special occasions, to find something uplifting as I add a positive saying in my Letters.
I want to give out a shoutout to Firehawkcustoms.com for great wood pieces! And, they are in Ft Worth.
An extra few blessings are friends who support me when I get frustrated! Miriam and Doug Cowles, and Christy Shipp
