Meet Bobbi Hentz | Chef & I.T Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bobbi Hentz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bobbi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
During COVID, I found myself with a lot more time at home. Cooking for my family has always been something I love, so I thought—why not turn my passion into a business and get paid to do what I enjoy? Then I started selling dinners out my home & catering events & the rest is history 🫶🏾

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand is deeply rooted in passion, family, and authenticity. What sets me apart is that behind the apron, I’m also an IT nerd! I hold two certifications in Information Technology—something most people are surprised to learn about me. But as much as I love tech, cooking has always been my true escape. It’s my therapy. As an overthinker, cooking allows me to clear my mind and be present—it’s where I find peace and purpose.
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, and in 2017, I made the life-changing decision to move to Dallas with my three children. It wasn’t easy starting over, but it was necessary. In 2021, I took a leap of faith and launched my business. My mom and grandmother, who is originally from Mississippi, were the ones who taught me how to cook. Through them, I learned that food isn’t just about flavor—it’s about love, tradition, and bringing people together.
Building my brand from the ground up taught me valuable lessons: stay consistent, believe in your vision even when others don’t see it yet, and always remember your “why.” There were definitely challenges along the way—being a single mother, navigating a new city, and balancing entrepreneurship with personal life—but each obstacle shaped me into who I am today.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is this: it’s more than just food—it’s a story of strength, legacy, and passion. Every dish I create carries a piece of my heart, my family, and my journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Dallas, I’d make sure they had the time of their life! Dallas has so much to offer—from good food and vibes to amazing shopping and unforgettable nights out.
We’d definitely kick things off with brunch at one of my favorite Black-owned spots that always brings the flavor and the vibes—Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles. Between the music, the atmosphere, and those crispy waffles, it’s the perfect way to start any day.
For shopping, we’d hit The Galleria and Parks Mall—they’ve got everything from big-name stores to unique little finds. We’d probably spend a whole day just shopping, eating, and people-watching.
For some fun and friendly competition, Topgolf is always a win. Great drinks, good food, and a chance to show off our swing (or just laugh at how bad it is!). It’s the perfect hangout spot before a night out.
And speaking of nights out… when it comes to good music, grown vibes, and the best R&B in the city, I’d take them to one of Dallas’s top R&B clubs. Think smooth music, a laid-back atmosphere, and just enough energy to keep you dancing all night.
Throughout the week, we’d explore different neighborhoods, grab drinks on a rooftop, maybe hit a day party, and of course, make sure to squeeze in some relaxing downtime, too. Because Dallas isn’t just fun—it’s an experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the people who have been my greatest source of strength and inspiration—my children and my mom. Their love, encouragement, and constant motivation have kept me going, even during the toughest times. My children remind me every day why I strive to be better, and my mom has always been my rock, believing in me when I doubted myself. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their unwavering support.
