We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what role has risk played in your life or career?
– I think risks can definitely feel scary, but in business they’re necessary—and honestly, sometimes not taking a risk is the biggest risk of all. I’ve made decisions while feeling nervous, worried about failing, and questioning myself, but I kept moving forward anyway. Starting my business with only six months of experience and no clientele was a huge leap of faith. Now, seven years later, I’m in a beautiful studio of my own and having the opportunity to share my story in this interview. Every single time I’ve taken a risk and bet on myself, I came out on top. Betting on myself has never failed me—and that’s the mindset that’s carried me this far.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is all about using custom services to enhance and elevate my clients’ natural beauty and confidence in their own skin! What sets me apart is the way I combine the skills I learned/mastered over the years with a genuine passion for creating personalized looks that bring out each client’s best features. I specialize in lived-in color and balayage, extensions, layered cuts, and now I’m branching into aesthetics. I’m proud of how my career has grown from hairstyling into a broader vision of beauty and self-care.

The journey hasn’t been easy. One of the biggest turning points for me was being laid off from a salon early in my career. At the time, it felt like a huge setback, but looking back, it pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and figure out who I wanted to be in this industry. I had to learn how to rely on myself, build my own clientele, and create something that couldn’t be taken away from me. That experience taught me that sometimes doors close because bigger opportunities are waiting.

Since then, I’ve overcome challenges like maintaining a business during COVID and balancing everything while pursuing a business degree. Through it all, what kept me going was a combination of being determined and having the support of my clients. Knowing I had the drive to overcome all prior challenges, along with their belief in me and investment in my work, gave me the faith to keep going.

Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and never being afraid to evolve. Taking risks, challenging myself, and embracing change have all been key to my growth. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and at the heart of my brand is the promise that I will always grow with it — expanding my knowledge and skills so I can continue to make a positive impact through my craft.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want them to experience the best mix of fun, food, and unique spots around Dallas–Fort Worth. We’d start things off with a round of putt-putt at Putt Shack in Addison, then get creative with a perfume or candle-making class in Dallas. I’d sneak in a couple Pilates sessions (both mat and reformer) because it’s such a big part of my routine.

For adventures, we’d hit the Fort Worth Stockyards, stroll through the Dallas Farmers Market, and even do a gondola brunch in Irving! Of course, no trip is complete without shopping, so we’d hit NorthPark, the Galleria, and a few thrift shops in the city for one-of-a-kind finds.

Food is always a highlight, so we’d grab dinner at North Italia (I love Italian food), eat seafood, try local Thai food spots and other Dallas staples, and sip matcha from local coffee shops. By the end of the week, they’d get the perfect mix of culture, adventure, and the flavors that make this area so much fun to explore.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my dad. Even though he’s no longer here with me, I’m forever grateful for the advice and encouragement he gave me. He always pushed me to go to college, and because of that I’ve been able to learn so much, make meaningful valuable connections, and grow into the person and professional I am today. His influence continues to guide me, and I wouldn’t be where I am without him.
