We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, every day, we know how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I Remember growing up poor and wanting a custom anime birthday cake when i was 7
I was a weird kid do i did not have many friends, so when the time came for my birthday my family would not get me this cool custom anime cake that i wanted because it was too pricey and it would be too big and no one would be able to consume it all since it was just us and i didn’t have enough friends for a party.
Bakery’s dont take custom order’s for cheap and custom cakes, at least back then

And so thats how i came up with bensbentobakery. I wanted to make custom affordable cakes that are personal size
So even if you dont have the budget, or the friends, you can still get the cake you want and enjoy it by yourself!

What should our readers know about your business?
BensBentoBakery is my pride and joy, it is my entire life and i’ve completely Done everything in my power to continue to grow this business.

I am the first bento bakery that specializes in cute personal bento cakes which are cakes that are small and super cute
Everyweek bensbentobakery has a different theme on what the bento cakes will be
Designed as.

Bensbentobakery is not just a business
Bensbentobakery is a kid with a dream who loves cakes and j-pop culture and has his recipes and wants to share his creations with his fellow comrads

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omg i love going to arcades, especially claw machine arcades its my favorite thing to do

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m having a little trouble answering this because i’ve had no mentorship or support in any way building this business.

I was heavily discouraged to create bensbentobakery and was told to not become a baker. Which just pushed me harder to build the business i have today
