Meet Tori Whitaker | Motherhood Identity Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tori Whitaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tori, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Honestly, it all started when I was crushing it as a trainer at Equinox and really connecting with moms. I saw that they needed way more than just workouts — they needed real support, and that kind of space didn’t really exist. I understood exactly what they were going through because I had lived it myself. When I left my abusive marriage with a six-month-old baby, I felt completely lost and realized there wasn’t a place for moms like me. I refused to settle for the martyr mom life, so I built Better After Baby to be the lifeline I wish I’d had back then. It’s about helping moms find themselves again, feel strong, and navigate the chaos of motherhood. I help moms go from surviving to thriving — because that’s exactly what I did.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Better After Baby isn’t just a fitness business — it’s a movement and a community for moms who feel like they’ve lost themselves in motherhood but refuse to settle for less. What sets me apart is that I don’t just focus on workouts or quick fixes. I meet moms where they are — mind, body, and soul — because I’ve been there. I know what it feels like to be exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure who you even are anymore. And I help them simplify motherhood, because it’s chaotic enough!
I’m most proud of the way this business has grown into a lifeline for so many women. The moms who come to me aren’t just clients; they become part of a sisterhood that empowers them to reclaim their confidence and strength — not just physically, but in every part of their lives.
Getting here was madness. I left a DV marriage with a six-month-old and no family within a thousand miles. I started in a battered women’s shelter, then moved into a friend’s guest room and studied for my CPT, while coaching and bringing my baby with me everywhere. I switched careers, built myself back one day at a time and held fast to the fact that failure was not an option.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that I’m not special—and I want every mom to know they’re not alone. Vulnerability and authenticity have become my true superpowers, both in business and motherhood. People connect deeply with real stories, real struggles, and real hope. And sharing my story could be the key to unlock someone else’s prison.
What I want the world to know is that Better After Baby is more than a brand — it’s a promise. A promise that moms don’t have to lose themselves, that they can (and SHOULD) thrive after baby, and that they’re never alone on this journey. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stuck, I’m here to help you rediscover your strength, your identity, and your joy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just moved here in June, so I’m still getting to know all the hidden gems — but I already have a few favorites I’d love to share. First, I’d take my best friend to my peaceful spot at Lavon Lake, where I love to read or paddleboard, whether solo or with my family. It’s the perfect way to unwind and soak in some nature.
For food, Hutchins has quickly become my go-to barbecue spot — seriously delicious and a great vibe. Beyond that, I’m all about exploring, so I’d be open to checking out any new places my friend wanted to see. I’m excited to discover the best eats, drinks, and hangouts together and make some awesome memories.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to start by thanking my best friend Adrianne, who has believed in me since day one and stood by me through all the chaos. Then, my three best friends at Equinox — my band of brothers — who always had my back, helped me through every phase, and became uncles by choice to my kids.
And of course, the moms I connected with along the way — the ones who trusted me, believed me when I told them they didn’t have to choose between being themselves and being a mom. Those moms who allowed me to help them find themselves again validated that this work isn’t just my mission, it’s my purpose.
