Meet Candace Cotton | Wax and Beauty Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Cotton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candace, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised here in Dallas, Texas. I’ve always been a creative, artistic and “do it yourself” girl growing up; I believe I got those qualities from my Dad. Since fashion and beauty became an interest at a young age, my family would tend to call me “Diva” when I was around. However, I did not tap into the beauty industry until after college. Graduated in 2008, became a traveling makeup artist 2 years later; by 2011, the beauty industry was calling my name to begin building my business. I received my Esthetician license and was able to merge into a completely different lane. This journey has allowed me to now own and operate Heart of Glamour Studio, my own wax and beauty studio.

What should our readers know about your business?
Heart of Glamour Studio is a wax and beauty studio located 10 minutes north of Downtown Dallas. I have been a solo wax specialist for 8 years! I specialize in full body waxing, but I also offer makeup, brow services and waxing training. My main service is a Brazilian wax, where you can get it done in 15 minutes or less.
I take pride in Heart of Glamour Studio because of my clientele being so diverse and I’ve also created a vibe, and space where women can come and get serviced and leave out feeling brand new and fresh.
Getting to where I am at today was not easy, especially as a solo entrepreneur because everything falls you on. Im grateful for the challenges though, it has shaped me into the business owner I am today. One the other hand, Im excited for what’s in future because we’re really just getting started!
Im still learning lessons everyday, but a big one that Ive learned so far is that it’s ok to work hard, just take time out for yourself.
Because I am in the industry where women make it a priority to look and feel beautiful, through self-care, I always encourage my clients to be kind to themselves and to leave feeling proud and confident.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow…there’s so many spots in Dallas to check out. It really depends on your vibe. I like Mexican food, so I would recommend. Mexican Sugar or Gloria’s. Their margaritas are good…you only need 2. To hangout, I would recommend Kylde Warren park on the weekends, The Star in Frisco or the Grandscape in The Colony.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a HUGE shoutout first to my heavenly father for the vision He placed inside of me. Shoutout to all of my clients (old and new), and to my family and friends that have supported me on this journey!
