We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicolas Marquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicolas, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The hair industry is a crazy place, I have always had the plans to start my own salon as soon as I started cosmetology school. That why my IG handle is “Not that blonde” I came up with NTB with the intention of opening a salon and possibly other business/brands.
I have worked at a few different salons and during and after those experiences I want to make a space where stylists and clients have an amazing experience and everyone is welcomed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Well I’m not originally from Dallas, my fiancé and I moved from west Texas about 4 years ago and It took a awhile to get where I am today in my business and as a business I’m still growing. It was definitely not easy but with it, I worked long hours and stayed on top of my social media as well as implemented other ways to build a clientele. I have cultivated a space where everyone is welcome and I can help bring people’s inner beauty out and help people feel their best!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop would definitely be babe’s chicken we dream of her always! We would definitely hit up some antique/thrift stores. As far as night time activities you would see us at bowlounge and dinner at Deluccas!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are three people that come to mind when I think of who has been there for me and with me through life. Those people would be my mother she has supported me in everything I have done and is my biggest cheerleader. The next person is my Bestfriend Jaimie, she has been thought think and thin with me and will always have my back. The last person is my fiancé Trey, he is my rock and always keeps me grounded as well as pushes me to be better in every aspect of my life. Without these people in my life I wouldn’t be where I am today.
