Meet Shatavia Reese | Salon Owner & Lash Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shatavia Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shatavia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m a proud Dallas native, born and raised in the East Dallas Projects. Growing up in the projects prepares you for life in ways you don’t fully realize until later. It shaped my worldview, my beliefs, and how I carry myself in the world today.
In that environment, everyone is family. It truly takes a village, and from that village, I learned values from every person who played a role in raising me. One of the first things I was taught was to have a backbone—to stand up for myself and never let anyone walk over me. But just as importantly, I was reminded to always remain a woman and to move with grace.
Church was a constant in my life—Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, to be exact. Even on the days I didn’t want to go, my godmother made sure I did. As a child, I didn’t understand it. But as an adult, I’m so thankful she planted that seed. When God is rooted in you, it gives you a confidence like no other. Even when things feel uncertain, you have faith that everything will work out. You pray, believe, and keep pushing forward.
That faith has carried me through entrepreneurship. Being your own boss means taking leaps—sometimes without a safety net. But when you’re grounded in faith, you walk differently. You move with purpose. You keep your integrity. My aunt used to say, “No matter what happens, you do right.” That stuck with me. Because at the end of the day, your name is everything.
These early life lessons molded me—from my self-esteem and relationships to my personal and professional goals. They built the foundation for the woman I am today: strong, intentional, faith-filled, and walking in purpose.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Glamoureese Life is about celebrating every woman—regardless of her color, size, or shape. I truly believe that the most beautiful thing a woman can wear is confidence. That’s why the client always comes first. Making every woman feel seen, valued, and appreciated isn’t just important—it’s at the heart of everything we do.
My background in corporate America plays a major role in how I run this business. It taught me structure, discipline, the value of time—and more importantly, not to waste it. That foundation has helped me build something with both heart and hustle.
But let me be honest—it hasn’t been easy. Like many small businesses, we started from the ground up. Long nights, limited budgets, and countless challenges tried to shake us. But through sheer determination, word-of-mouth support, and genuine care for every single client, we’ve grown into a brand that people trust.
What we’re most proud of isn’t just the growth—it’s the impact. It’s hearing from a client who tells us how her experience made her feel beautiful again. Or from a collaborator who walked away feeling empowered and inspired. Those stories—the real, raw ones—remind us that we’re doing something that matters.
The Glamoureese Life isn’t just a brand. It’s a movement built on real people, real stories, and real dedication. We’re not here to be the biggest—we’re here to be the most meaningful. And that’s what will always set us apart.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was coming to town, we’d definitely start by grabbing some delicious food at Evelyn. Then, we’d treat ourselves to a spa day at the Joule—because everyone deserves a little pampering. Next up, a day trip to New Orleans for a memorable dinner, soaking in the vibes of that beautiful city.
And of course, we’d have our own “Waiting to Exhale” day—cocktails in hand, some crispy fried fish, and all our favorite snacks and comfort foods. Because sometimes, life can get overwhelming, and what you really need is a true friend to talk to, someone you can pour into and who pours back into you. Those moments of connection are what refuel your spirit and keep you going.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I have to give all glory to God. There were days I truly wanted to give up, when the weight felt too heavy—but He carried me through. He reminded me that with Him, all things are possible, and I will never forget that.
To my son, Kaiden… my heart. Thank you for being so patient with me, for understanding when I’m working long hours, and for always telling me you believe in me. Hearing those words from you, my child—it pushes me in ways I can’t even explain. You give me strength when I feel like I have none.
To my Aunt JoAnn—thank you for being there when I had no one else. You came for me when no one would. You didn’t just step in—you showed up, over and over again. You taught me how to be strong, how to stand on my own, and how to never forget my worth. I love you so much. I truly don’t know where I’d be without you.
To my sisters in the Glamoureese Life team—Lo, Tierra, and Essence—you ladies are a blessing. Thank you for believing in my vision, for sticking by me through the ups and downs, for your loyalty, and for choosing to grow with me. I couldn’t have done this without you.
And to my incredible clients—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support means everything to me. You are not just clients—you’re the reason I get to do what I love. I am nothing without you, and I will never take your loyalty for granted.
With all my love, thank you.
